Thois Dee Chatterley, age 84, passed away on October 12, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Born on November 21, 1939, in Kanab, Utah, to Graydon and Leola Chatterley, Thois was a true native of Kanab, spending most of his life among the beautiful red hills he cherished so much.
A proud graduate of Kanab High School in 1958, Thois attended Provo Tech, where he majored in mechanics. He proudly served in the U.S. Army for six years, including three years in Germany. After his service, Thois worked as a mechanic in Boulder City, Nevada, where he met the love of his life, Rosemary Irene Penney. They married on February 26, 1965, and later had their marriage solemnized in the St. George LDS Temple on April 26, 1977.
Thois was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in many leadership positions throughout his life, including five and a half years as bishop. He loved his family deeply and created lasting memories through camping, hunting, fishing, and riding ATVs in the hills he adored.
A hard-working man, Thois built several successful businesses and was known for his mechanical skills, able to fix anything that came his way. His compassionate nature and ability to listen made him a trusted friend to many.
Thois is survived by his beloved wife, Rosemary, and their children. Bill (Keiren) Chatterley of Kanab, UT; Becky (Jeff) Collard of Sigurd, UT; Tammy (Allen) Orton of Kanab, UT; stepson Gregg Doss of Kanab, UT; sister Shanna (Nolan) McGuire of Fredonia, AZ; 14 grandchildren and 21 great- grandchildren, and many more extended family members who will remember him for his unwavering love and the joy he brought into their lives.
