Theda Loretta Trout, age 84, peacefully passed away at her home in Kanab, Utah on May 25, 2025. Her death was caused by complication of dementia.
Theda was born on May 9, 1941 in Maywood, California to Glen and Iona Nelson Lang. She went to elementary school in Maywood and attended schools in Downey, California. She graduated from Warren High School in 1959 winning a Secretarial Scholarship. With the money from the scholarship, she bought herself clothing she could wear working in an office. She went to work right out of high school as a secretary for Armstrong Cork and Tile Manufacturing. Theda could type over a 100 words per minute while taking dictation. She worked at Armstrong up to the time she and Brian had their first baby (Darren) in 1964. From that time on she was a stay-at-home mom. 3 years later Theda and Brian adopted a little baby girl (Lori) and thought their family was complete. Much later in life they were surprised when they found out they were having another baby (Sterling).
Theda meet Brian when he and his family moved next door to her family in 1958. They dated for 3 years, fell in love and married in September 2, 1961. They have been married for 64 years.
Theda lived in Maywood as a child and then moved with her family to Holydale, California. After she was married, she and Brian moved to La Mirada, California to be closer to his work. They then moved to Corona, California where they bought a new house to raise their family in. After a few years, Theda and Brian decided to venture out and in 1977 moved to Kanab, Utah, where they have lived for the past 47 years.
Theda was baptized into The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints when she was 9 years old by her uncle in the Maywood Chapel. She has held many callings in the church; Stake Sunday School Secretary, Primary Teacher, Stake Patriarch Recorder, Ward Relief Society President, Family History Consultant, and (fulltime) Senor Missionary, among other callings.
