Steven Michael McGuire

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Steven Michael McGuire, who left this world peacefully on December 31, 2024, at his home, surrounded by his loved ones. He was 70 years old. Steve passed away holding the hand of his cherished and eternal wife, Pamela Grace Lewis McGuire. Their bond, formed at the tender age of 14, remained unbreakable throughout their lives together. Steve was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Steve and Pam were married on December 17, 1971, in St. George, Utah, and were later sealed for time and eternity in the Salt Lake Temple in 1976. They were companions in every sense of the word, sharing a love that lasted beyond the temporal and into the eternal.

Steve was born on March 11, 1954, in Whittier, California, the second of five sons to Jackie Lowal McGuire and Zella Mae Gossett. He was preceded in death by his parents and two of his brothers, Thomas Eugene McGuire and Michael Patrick McGuire. He is survived by his beloved wife, Pamela Grace Lewis McGuire, their six children: Steven Michael McGuire Jr. (Elisa Beth Rode), Geoffrey Robert McGuire (Carolyn Sue Haberland), Jennifer Louise McGuire Conn (Andrew William Conn), James Andrew McGuire (Camille Mosdell), Heather Lynn McGuire Coxson (James David Coxson), and Michayla Grace McGuire. He was blessed with twenty-eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild, who were a source of great joy in his life. He is survived by two brothers, Jack Allen McGuire and Sean Edward McGuire, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Steve’s life story was one of refinement. Steve was a man of many talents and interests, a deep thinker, passionate, and determined to do what he believed to be right. But it was through his trials that the Lord refined him. It was a journey of discovering the most important thing in life is submitting to the Lord’s will for us. He leaves a legacy of love, faithfulness and obedience to the end. His eternal joy is realized in the righteousness and determination of his children and their families to follow our Savior Jesus Christ.

Steve was known and loved for his faith, service, and devotion. Throughout his life, he always felt the Lord was behind him. He honed his talents in service to others, ministering to those in need, and engaging in the sacred work of the temple. His testimony was one of unwavering belief in the gospel of Jesus Christ. He often shared his knowledge that turning one’s heart to the Lord is the key to true happiness.

When Steve was no longer physically able to drive to do temple work, to do indexing or attend church, he followed the counsel of our church leaders to help gather Israel through bearing testimony on social media. He did this faithfully and regularly in his final years.

A few of his posted testimonies include:

-True success in this life comes in consecrating our lives – that is, our time and choices – to God’s purposes. In so doing, we permit Him to raise us to our highest destiny.

-Seek Christ in every thought.

-Doubt not, fear not.

-This life is NOT the end. We have great things to look forward to if we will choose obedience to the Lord’s commandments! Doubt not, only believe.

The family extends their deepest gratitude to all those who loved Steve and supported him throughout his life. Steve was loved and will be missed by many. May his example of enduring love, faithfulness, and dedication to follow our Savior Jesus Christ in the face of constant trials continue to inspire those who knew him.
