Steven Jacobsen

Our beloved father, Steven Elias Jacobsen, died peacefully, surrounded by angels and attended by Lisa and Stephanie, at Dixie Regional Medical Center on Sunday, July 12, 2020. He was born May 12, 1945 to Harold Elias Jacobsen and Pinkie Evelyn Cude in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Dad had one sister, Vera Ellyn Jacobsen Osguthorpe.  It was such fun to sit and listen to them visit and reminisce together.  What a lovely childhood they had, together with their parents.

Dad served in the Cumorah Mission from November 1964-1966 where he participated in the Hill Cumorah Pageant. He had plans to attend the final pageant next year. He was sealed for time and all eternity to our mother, Karon Lurleen Reed on September 28, 1967 in the Salt Lake Temple.

They enjoyed the blessing of 5 children, Lisa (Riley) of South Jordan, Darby (Minola) of Saratoga Springs, Todd (Brittany) of Santa Clara, Stephanie (Brett) of Cedar City, and Stacy (Jarod) of Santa Clarita, California.

Dad was a hard worker.  He worked every day right up until his death.  He valued hard work and found joy in the people he associated with. He enjoyed good music, and making people laugh. Over the past several years he worked in the Family History Library where he spent a great deal of time learning of his ancestors.

Our dad was gentle and kind. He showed this the most when he was caring for our mother before she passed in August 2013.  He spent countless hours painting her nails and doing little things to help her know how much he loved her.  He never talked about the little things he did, but she did.  She made sure people knew what a great man he was.  Dad was perfect.  He was the perfect father to raise 5 children who know and understand their worth and value.  He understood that a person’s value had nothing to do with the size of their bank account and everything to do with the size of their heart.  He loved his Heavenly Father and Savior, Jesus Christ.

He is survived by his children, 22 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild, his dear sister, Vera Ellyn, brothers in-law, Gary (Louise), Jon (Chaleh), Mike (Lori), Mark (Kathy), Bob (Mary), Randy (Jennifer) and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Preceded in death by his father, Harold Jacobsen, mother, Pinkie Evelyn Cude Jacobsen, stepmother, Lucy Dennett, brother’s in-law, Joe Osguthorpe and Guy Reed, and parent’s in-law John A. Reed and Nola Rowley Reed.

The family joins in offering tremendous thanks to the following: Nolyne Anderson, Dilworth Perkins, Ted Bernard and Darrin Coleman for serving dad so selflessly on his last day on earth. The doctors and nurses at Kanab Hospital and Dixie Regional for excellent care of dad and all the kindness they extended to us as we were making decisions. Serenity Mortuary and Mosdell Mortuary for their loving care.  Kanab 2nd Ward for being extended family for dad over the years.

Please join us for a viewing Friday July 17 from 9-9:45 at Mosdell Mortuary and a graveside service at 10:00 A.M. at Kanab Cemetery.
