Sophie Hill

Sophie Dawn Hill, age 11, gained her angel wings on September 23, 2022 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Sophie was born June 3, 2011 in Rexburg, Idaho to Paul and Ashley Hill. After having 3 sons, Paul and Ashley couldn’t wait to finally welcome a little girl to their family.

When Sophie was 5 ½ months old she experienced her first of many seizures. Sophie was always so strong and fought through each one. When Sophie was 3 years old, after lots of testing, was diagnosed with Dravet Syndrome. A severe and catastrophic form of epilepsy that devastated her friends and family as the prognosis wasn’t hopeful. But Sophie’s special spirit and will to fight kept her going on year after year, as she continued to write her own story.

If you knew Sophie she loved unconditionally, we always had to remind her that some people like their personal space and she couldn’t hug and love everyone she met. She always had a bright smile and warm hug. She loved to love and loved the idea of love. She always loved to see her parents happy and showing affection. She loved her 3 older brothers, Jayce, Kelson, and Easton Hill and loved and spent a lot of time playing with her little sister Tenley Hill.

Sophie’s Christlike love always radiated off of her, she had a huge love for life, and a huge love for her family and friends, especially her best friend Kaia. They were almost inseparable since kindergarten.

Sophie enjoyed being outdoors camping, hunting, riding the four-wheeler, but most of all she enjoyed going fishing.

She is survived by her parents Paul and Ashley Hill, siblings Jayce, Kelson, Easton, Tenley Hill, grandparents Dave and Sonya Kimball and Ferrell and Venda Hill, great-grandparents Nolan and Shanna McGuire, and lots of aunt, uncles, and cousins.

Funeral Services will begin with a viewing in Kanab, UT, Friday September 30, 2022 from 6-7 (UT) at Mosdell Mortuary.

Then Saturday, October 1, 2022 a viewing from 12-1pm with the funeral service following from 1-2pm at the Washington Fields North Stake Center 3167 East 1140 South, St. George, UT 84790

Then we will proceed with the Graveside Service at the Enterprise Cemetery in Enterprise, UT.

Sophie gave us the pattern of going above and beyond the two greatest commandments by not only loving everyone but everything.  Let’s follow her example and “Love Like Sophie.”

I was so sad to learn of Sophie‘s passing yesterday, but know that she was such a special, beautiful spirit and my mom and I loved when Sophie and Tennli would come by and visit us! I know that my mom was there to greet her with all the others who welcomed her on the other side. My deepest heartfelt condolences go out to Ashley, Paul and family. Sending lots of prayers and big hugs your way and hope that you are comforted by the knowledge that you will be with her again one day. 💜💜💜🙏🙏🙏😇😇😇

I only knew Sophie a short time. We sat at football games with her family. From the first meeting I was drawn to Sophie. She had such an amazing spirit! You could feel her love. Thank you, Ashley, for sitting by us and letting me feel a “peace” of heaven from Sophie. May you and your family have eternal peace.

I was privileged to work with Sophie as a substitute teacher since August 22nd. She was a joy and such a good and obedient student. She and Kaia were inseparable and I sat at lunch with them everyday. She especially loved to play Uno Attack, a fun card game with her classmates after their work was finished. Such a fun and sweet girl. I’m blessed I got to know her during my time here at Fossil Ridge. God bless her family as I know she will be greatly missed.
