Rustie Tom

Rustie Bert Tom was born on December 19,1985, to Russell Tom and Cherie Nicholson in Kanab, UT. He passed away on December 9, 2018.
Rustie graduated from Fredonia high school in 2004. Rustie loved the outdoors and his employment endeavors were a reflection of that. He worked as a wildland firefighter for the Southern Paiute Agency, as a wildlife technician for the Kaibab Paiute Tribe and he also worked for the Kaibab Lodge as a North Rim employee. As a member of the wildlife committee with the tribe, he looked forward to his yearly participation as a guide for the big game hunts.
In his spare time Rustie liked hunting and fishing, he enjoyed cruising on the logging roads on the Kaibab National Forest and on the back roads of the Kaibab Paiute Tribe. He enjoyed riding his 4 wheeler and taking his nephew Jaryn out to shoot his gun. Rustie was a fan of the Arizona Cardinals football team.
Rustie, like all of us, wasn’t without fault, but he was a good son and brother, he was an amazing uncle to his nephew’s and nieces. He was a great friend to many and not only to his family and childhood friends Bert, BJ and Skyler. Rustie was kind and he loved to tease and laugh. These qualities made him very special to all that he came in contact with.
Rustie is survived by his parents, his sister Orlena (aka Gus) and her companion Henry Meng, his nephew’s Damon Haskie and Jaryn Meng, his nieces Jayla, Omree, Honor and Journey Meng and his uncle’s Gary Tom, Ralph Lane and Ronnie Spute. Numerous cousins and close friends.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Bill and Arlene Myers Tom and Bert Nicholson and Louise Steve; his uncle’s Samuel Tom , Leonard Hill and Clarence (Buck) Lee and his aunt Evelyn Nicholson.
