Ross Hunt

Ross Hunt, our beloved Dad, grandpa, great grandpa, great great grandpa passed away peacefully in the early morning of March 20th, 2018, at his home in Fredonia, AZ with family present.  Dad was born on Sept. 9th, 1920 in Holbrook AZ to William Albert Hunt and Ruth Elizabeth Heward Hunt.  He was the 5th son and the 9th child of 10 children.  He was raised in Zenniff, AZ (Dry Lake), and married Pauline Opal Wasson on May 4th,1939 in Holbrook, AZ.  They were later sealed in the St. George Temple for time and all eternity May 28, 1966.  He served in the Army during WWII, returning home to cut timber in the White Mountains of Arizona.

After moving his family several places they settled in Fredonia, Arizona in 1962.  He felled timber for Kaibab Industries, retiring in 1975, and then went full time working in his Hunt Saw Shop until he was 84 yrs old.  He lost his first wife Pauline in 1994, and married Konda Chamberlain Button in the same year, later losing her in 2008.  Ross was a very strong independent man who took care of himself for the last 10 years.  He never lost his love for the outdoors, especially growing his garden and tending his beautiful roses, which made life enjoyable for him until his death.

Ross was preceded in death by his parents, eight siblings, two wives, one daughter, three sons- in- law, one daughter in- law, and two grandsons.  He is survived by his sister Ruth Aguilar; his children Larry Ross Hunt (Jo Hunt, deceased),  Manita and David Towell (both deceased),  Janice Coughanour (Rich Coughanour, deceased), Rosalie (Claude) Woodside,  Lynn (Fayon) Hunt,  Lloyd Wasson (Christina) Hunt, Eldon (Carol Lee) Hunt,  Susanna Fitting (Jerry Fitting, deceased), and Cindy (Ken) Brown; 30 grandchildren; 94 great-grandchildren with 1 on the way; 37 great-great-grandchildren with 5 on the way; step-children Bernie (Gary) Tom, Bonnie (Calvin) Albreict, Robin (Barbara) Button,  Larry Button (deceased), Mark Button, Danny (Shirley) Button, and Shane (Tina) Button;  30 step-grandchildren; 69 step-great-grandchildren; and 3 step-great-great-grandchildren.

Dad looked forward to every Sunday night family gatherings, and his annual birthday party and family reunions. He will be missed dearly by all who loved him.

Funeral services will be held Friday, March 30, 2018 at 11:00 AM (AZ Time) in the Fredonia Arizona LDS Church.  Viewings will be held Thursday evening from 6:00-8:00 PM (AZ Time) at the Fredonia Church and Friday morning from 10:00-10:45 AM (AZ Time) at the Church.  Burial will be in the Fredonia Cemetery with Military Honors by the American Legion Post 69.  Arrangements were made with Mosdell Mortuary.
