Robert Brown

Robert (Bob) Dave Brown was born June 25, 1943, in Glendale, California, to Dave Frost Brown and LaDean Hurd Brown. He finished his mortal journey on October 31, 2024, at his home in Page, Arizona, with his sweet wife, Virginia, by his side. He was 81 years old.

Bob spent the first few years of his life living in California, where his father worked building airplanes during the war. The family then moved back to Utah and lived a year in Orderville, where he attended 3rd grade. He finished his school years in Kanab and graduated from Kanab High School, where he excelled in sports and music. Bob was a perfectionist in everything he did, always neat and tidy.

He enlisted in the Army and spent time in Germany. He rose through the ranks, receiving the National Defense Service Medal for Sharpshooter with a Rifle. He received an Honorable Discharge in 1970. He then spent a year at Universal Schools in Dallas, Texas, completing General and Special Studies in Claim Investigation and Adjustment.

Bob spent the rest of his life working at the Navajo Generating Station in Page, Arizona. During this time, he received many awards for his work ethic. One of his personal reviews stated, “Bob does not require a lot of supervision to fulfill his responsibilities. He demonstrates competency in the skills and knowledge required. He learns and applies new skills within the expected time period. Bob is knowledgeable about current developments in his field. He effectively uses the resources and tools available to him.”

On December 1, 2007, Bob was able to go to the Temple to be sealed to his family shortly before his mother passed away. It was a joyous day for Bob, his siblings, and especially his mother. Bob married the love of his life and soulmate, Virginia Mickelson, on November 24, 2010. He retired from his work at the Plant, and together, they made their home in Page, Arizona.

Bob is survived by his sweet wife, Virginia, sister DayLean (Robert) Houston – Kanab, Utah, brother Lou (Julie) Brown – Annabelle, Utah, and many more extended family members and friends who will remember and miss him deeply. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Dave and LaDean Brown, brother Bruce H. Brown, and sister Arell Lewis.

We would like to give special thanks to Zions Way Hospice, especially Camille and Shannon, who cared for Bob in his final days; Page 4th Ward, especially Jeff and Treessa Knight, for the love, care, and food they provided during this time; and Mike Skaggs for his love, care, and support for us for so many years.

Funeral service will be held at Mosdell Mortuary in Kanab on Friday, November 8, 2024 at 2:00 PM. Burial will be in the Kanab Cemetery. Arrangements were made with Mosdell Mortuary.

Great friend in elementary school in Orderville. We did about everything together. We both liked the same girl so we shared the cost of the ticket and took her to the movie. I think she liked Bobby more than she liked me.
