Ramon Rosales Santillan, age 91, passed away on Thursday, July 18, 2024 at his home in Page, Arizona, after a courageous battle with endocarditis. He was born April 7, 1933 in Los Angeles, California to Jose Guadalupe Santillan and Tiburcea Rosales. He was one of seven siblings and survived by Maria Luisa Santillan de Padilla, Juvencio Santillan and Jose Guadalupe Jr. Santillan.
He was married four times, has 9 children, 27 grandchildren, 48 great grandchildren and 13 great- great grandchildren.
Ray is survived by his wife Alejandra Ramirez Bedolla. Children from 1st marriage Virginia Blanco: Guadalupe Astorga, Virginia Montanez, Veronica Velasquez, Ramona Pursley, and Martina Cisneros. Children from second marriage Esfrada Romero Santillan: Tony Santillan, Emma Martinez, Ramon Jr. Santillan, and David Santillan.
Ray lived his 91 years the only way he knew, to the fullest, bringing joy to anyone who met him, always laughing and smiling. He is leaving behind cherished memories for us all, including his community in Page, AZ where he had lived since 1981. He was known for his businesses, “Rays Upholstery and Boat Storage” and did jobs for many people in Page, making many friends.
Lake Powell was his love, boating and camping with family and friends. Fishing was his passion both on the lake and traveling to do so. He loved to go hunting with his boys in the mountains around Flagstaff. He enjoyed traveling especially to Ensenada B.C., Mexico where he met his loving bride, Alejandra on May 19, 2019. In his last five years they enjoyed traveling together, exploring and going to visit family in the US and Mexico.
He will be remembered for his pure heart – full of kindness, compassion, laughter and endless stories. His love for adventure, travel and the positive impact he spread and shared will be truly missed. He was a stranger to no one as his warmth and smile made friends far and wide, to his final days at home.
He was preceded in death by his parents Jose Guadalupe and Tiburcea. Siblings: Rito Santillan, Aurora Roque, Juan Santillan, and Natalia Santillan. Wives Virginia Blanco, Esfrada Romero and Rosario Hernandez, granddaughter Myrna Velasquez, and 6 great grandchildren.
As per his wishes, he will be cremated, and two memorials will be held in Page, AZ, on September 21st, 2024. First at 9:30 am The Potters House Page, 679 S. Lake Powell Blvd., Page, AZ and 11:00 am Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 455 S Lake Powell Blvd, Page AZ. A reception will follow at 1:00-4:00pm, at the Elk’s Lodge, 806 Aqua Ave, Page AZ. A private interment will be held. Services were arranged with Mosdell Mortuary.
