On Thursday, September 6, 2018, Phyllis Jenson Huntington, loving wife and mother of two children passed away at the age of 68 from Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS).
Phyllis was born October 11, 1949, in Delta, Utah to Robert and Verla Jenson. She graduated from Delta High School in 1967 and then attended college in St. George, UT at Dixie State College. She married Lowell J. Huntington on August 31, 1968 in the Manti, Utah temple. Lowell and Phyllis spent the majority of their 50 year marriage living in Kanab, Utah.
Phyllis loved to sing, cook, bake, and help others. She loved talking to people and getting to know everyone she met. She had a lifelong love of music and participated in many singing groups and choirs. She loved and could sing almost any kind of music from Barbershop, Handel’s Messiah, hymns, to anything she heard on the radio. While working for many years as a cook at Kane County Hospital she was loved and admired for her delicious meals and baked treats. She had a unique way of making people around her feel loved and special and was a friend to anyone that needed her. Most of all, Phyllis was a wonderful grandmother that spoiled her grandchildren with love.
Phyllis will be lovingly remembered by her husband Lowell; her two children and spouses: Elizabeth (Bryan) Bussard and Lucas (Jessica) Huntington; her 6 grandchildren Kelton (Rayneen) Thebeau, D. Jayden (Chelsea) Thebeau, Keyoni Helquist, Breanna Bussard, Layla Helquist, and Kayson Huntington. She is also survived by her siblings Karen (the late Jesse) Johnson and James (Terry) Jenson. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 15, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in the Kanab Utah Stake Center, 20 W. Center St. There will be no viewing as Phyllis’ wishes were to be cremated. However, there will be visitation services from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Saturday morning at the Stake center, and Friday evening from 7:00-8:00 p.m. at Mosdell Mortuary 676 S. Hwy 89, Kanab, UT.
