LuANN BERRIER

Phyllis LuAnn Berrier, age 80, died in her home in Page, Arizona on July 2, 2019.  She was born May 13, 1939 in Fairview, Utah to Phyllis Matson and Simeon Boyd Turpin. The family later moved to Provo, Utah where she attended and graduated from Provo High School. She also attended Brigham Young University. She married Duane H. Berrier on March 3, 1961 in the Salt Lake City Temple and they made their home in the Salt Lake area. They moved to Page, Arizona in 1968 where Duane was an electrical engineer at Glen Canyon Dam.

LuAnn was a devoted wife and mother and an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She served in the Young Women’s organization and was a dedicated Primary nursery leader for many years.  She served in the Relief Society as well.  Her greatest joy was her children and she was the happiest when they were all together.  She also had a propensity for unofficially adopting other children and youth in the community.  She had the nickname of “Mamma Bear”.

In addition to loving people; LuAnn was an avid quilter, crafter, seamstress, knitter, afghan maker, recipe collector, baker, ceramic maker and toll painter.  She always had a project in process and gave away most of what she made.  After her children were in school, she made time to work with the Head Start Program and later was a sales manager at Walmart for 10 years.  She was well-loved by many and will be missed.

Survivors include husband Duane Berrier of Page, Ariz.; children Janene (Wayne) Southwick of West Jordan, Utah; James D.
