Nolan McGuire

Claude Nolan “Poppie” McGuire Junior, age 86, passed away peacefully on May 6, 2026, at St. George Regional Medical Center. He was surrounded by the love of his family, and his devoted wife was by his side when he passed. He was born on March 12, 1940, in Salt Lake City and was raised in Panguitch. Nolan later made his home in the Fredonia/Kanab area, where he lived for many years and built a life centered around family, faith, and the outdoors.

Nolan was a devoted husband to Shanna McGuire and a loving father to Sonya, Nolyne, Clint, Kirk, and Candice. He was deeply proud of his family and leaves behind 19 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren, and two more great-grandbabies on the way.

Nolan loved the outdoors and could often be found fishing, hunting, or camping with family and friends. He had a special talent for making canes and wood carving, creating pieces that will be treasured for years to come. In his younger years, he enjoyed riding horses and carried that adventurous spirit throughout his life. He also loved singing oldie songs, bringing smiles and laughter to those around him. A faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Nolan lived a life of service, kindness, and dedication to his beliefs and loved ones. Those who knew Nolan best lovingly knew him as “Poppie.” He will always be remembered for his warm spirit, love for his family, and his favorite saying, “Did you get it?” — words that will continue to echo warmly in the hearts of his family and friends.

A viewing will be held on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, at the Fredonia Arizona LDS Church at 10:00 a.m. (Arizona time), followed by funeral services at 11:00 a.m (Arizona time). He will be buried in the Kanab Utah Cemetery.

Nolan will be greatly missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved him.

A livestream of the services can be accessed the day of the funeral at https://zoom.us/j/98011787922.
