Nola Zuniga was born on April 22nd, 1943, in Ft. Duchesne, UT to her parents Adiah Milligan Harris & Nober Zuniga. Nola was raised by her grandmother Mary Reed Harris in a traditional Native American home. Nola grew up on the family cattle ranch and shared found memories of her childhood & adolescence growing up in the Uintah Basin attending Sweat ceremonies, the Sundance, the Bear Dance and UBIC. Nola loved growing up on a cattle ranch and often told stories of how much she loved helping her family & ranch hands drive large herds of cattle to Wyoming. Nola enjoyed riding horses particularly her horse red who she loved & missed dearly. In young adulthood Nola told stories of living in Ouray, Randlett & Vernal UT. She enjoyed hunting, camping and exploring the outdoors. Nola later met Harold Edmo her one true love as she would say and had a daughter named Delphina Edmo. Nola later relocated to Salt Lake City, UT and enjoyed many great years in the city creating memories and lifelong friendships. Nola was an avid believer in her traditional ways which she held dearly and passed down to her daughter and granddaughter. Nola touched many individuals lives with her kindness, caring and positive nature. She had the moto to never judge as least thee be judged. After living in Salt Lake City Many years Nola and her family moved to Cedar City, UT. A choice she made to reconnect with her father’s nuwu. Nola established many loving relationships in Southern Utah that she cherished dearly. In her elder years she moved with her granddaughter to Kaibab AZ. Nola left this earth on the 20th day of June, 2025. Nola leaves behind her granddaughter Autumn Gillard & her grandson in-law Toland Mayo; and grandson Noland Zuniga. She is preceded in death by her daughter Delphina Edmo, her mother and father Adiah Milligan Harris & Nober Zuniga and her grandmother Mary Reed Harris. Nola’s siblings are Lois Secakuku, Josephine Secakuku, Honewaima Walking Bear Secakuku, Eunice Ohte, Mildred Pikyavit, Nathaniel David, Norvall, Nelson, Norman, Vicki, Velma, Velda, Virginia, and Violet. Nola will be missed dearly. May the creator welcome her with open arms.

Thank you Autumn. I appreciate your posting this for all the family to see. I am sad to hear of Nola’s passing. I thought of her several times through the years, and Delphina was a bright light in our lives as well. I met Nola at the indian recovery center IRC Salt lake city Ut. She taught me how to use sage and smudge. I lived with Nola and her daughter Delphina for a brief moment creating cherished memories. Ill always have a good memory of how kind and tough Nola was. Blessing and peace Autumn.
