Nedra Heaton

Nedra Tueller Heaton passed away peacefully on March 11, 2018 in Kanab, Utah at the age of 85. She was born June 27, 1932 to Golden and Lucile Tueller in Provo, Utah. Her childhood was spent in Virginia City, Nevada, and Mesa, Arizona.

Nedra graduated from Mesa High School and then attended Brigham Young University, where she completed a degree in Home Economics Education. She later completed her Masters Degree at Arizona State University.

Nedra met Dean Heaton on a blind date, and they were married for time and eternity on June 27, 1957 in the Mesa Arizona Temple. They and their young children served a construction mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Brazil from 1964-1969.

Nedra taught high school Home Economics in Prescott, Mesa, Phoenix, and Fredonia, Arizona. Former students have expressed their gratitude to her for teaching them to budget, cook, bake, and create a home.

Her favorite things were her grandchildren, her sisters, sewing, eating out, and Diet Coke. Nedra was a faithful disciple of Jesus Christ and was active in church, serving in various callings, including Relief Society President, Young Women advisor and instructor. Nedra was active in Daughters of Utah Pioneers, holding several offices. Nedra was an especially skilled seamstress and made several wedding dresses: for herself, her sisters, her daughters, and other family members.

Nedra was preceded in death by her parents Golden and Lucile Tueller. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Dean Heaton, her children Cindy (Russ) Scott, Brenda (Mike) Skaggs, Gini (Bill) Chandler, Lance (Michelle) Heaton, Alison (Scott) Felt, and Brett (Janae) Heaton and her 18 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters Joyce (Stephen) Petersen, Sharilyn (Clinton) Chapman, Gloria (Don) McCracken, and her brother Alan (Katie) Tueller.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 17 at 11:00(AZ) am in the Fredonia LDS Church. Viewings will be held Friday evening from 6:00-7:00(AZ) pm at Mosdell Mortuary and Saturday from 9:30-10:45(AZ) am at the Chapel. Interment will be in the cemetery at Moccasin, Arizona. Arrangements were made with Mosdell Mortuary.

The family is especially grateful to care provided to Nedra by the Fredonia Second Ward Relief Society and the Kanab Long Term Care Facility.
