Michael Schlins

Michael L Schlins passed away on January 28, 2024 in his home in Glendale, Utah after a long battle of fighting prostate cancer for 25 yrs.
He was born in Seattle, Washington on January 7, 1947. Father was career Navy so was able to travel many places in his youth, Brazil, Hawaii and
finally high school and college in Minnesota. He was a teacher for 10 yrs in Minnesota and then moved to Sitka, Alaska and taught for another 25 yrs.
He was also a wrestling coach & soft ball coach for 25 yrs in Alaska. Some of his kids still called to talk to “coach”.

Looking for a better place to fight his cancer he came to the “lower 48” as he called it and ended up in Glendale, Utah. Living here for 22 yrs loving
it for the fishing, hunting and still coaching in Utah. His one complaint “the fish here in Utah are bait compared to Alaska”. He was a true Alaskan at
heart but loved the mountains of Utah.

His survivors include his wife of 19 yrs Rochelle Schlins, his brother Roger Schlins, two daughters Robyn Schlins and Teal West from Alaska along
with 5 grandchildren in Alaska. His extended family includes three stepdaughters, eight grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. All who will always
love and miss him.

Mike was proud to be a US Navy Veteran. He served during the late 1960’s on the USS Henry L Stimson submarine for four years.

He will be missed!
