3/8/1954 – 1/6/2025
Martin Craig Hansen (Craig) passed away on January 6, 2025 in Florida at the age of 70 years old. He was a devoted and loving husband, father of five, father-in-law and grandfather of 22 children. Everyone who met him became his friend. He had a beautiful smile and a caring way that reached into people’s hearts. He was always willing to help anyone in need.
He was born March 8, 1954 on the island of Guam, M.I. in the South Pacific, the third child of Richard Oliver Hansen and Elaine Hansen. Craig had two brothers Garry (deceased) and Lynn and a sister Annette. He met his dear wife, Barbara at BYU and they were married eight months later in the Los Angeles Temple on June 19, 1973. They knew they were soul mates as soon as they met and over 51 years later still felt the same way.
He has lived in many places as a youth as his father was in the military. Guam, Moscow Idaho, Myrtle Beach South Carolina, Mesa Arizona and finally Newport News Virginia. After Barbara and him were married they lived in Orem Utah, Cedar City Utah, Ashland OR, Eagle Point OR, Medford Oregon, Kanab Utah, and finally ended up in Santaquin Utah for the last few years.
Craig loved adventure and was always up for camping, boating, off roading, road trips, and even cruises. He loved to see and experience as many different things as possible. You could never call his life boring.
Craig was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served as Bishop’s executive secretary, clerking positions, Primary teacher, Elders Quorum President, High Priest Group Leader, Bishop’s Counselor, Stake High Councilor, and many other callings.
He leaves a legacy behind as he moves forward. Children; Chet Richard Hansen (Amy), Shanna Hansen (Brent Tolbert), Thomas Craig Hansen (Aubrie), Cynthia Hansen Child, Robert Sterling Hansen (Kylie) along with his 21 grandchildren and he has now joined his grandson Colton who preceded him.
Funeral services will be held at the Santaquin Stake Center, 45 South 500 West on January 18, 2025 at 10 am. Interment will be at the Mayfield Cemetery in Mayfield UT.

A beloved brother inlaw. You will be missed. Rest in peace until we meet again
I’m so grateful to be able to call Craig a great friend and amazing person. Love the Hansen family.
God Bless & comfort the family of Craig. He has always been one of my favorite people and I was very sad when he left Kanab. We’ve had many good conversations & he was so thrilled when I let him read my mother’s journals about her life working with the senior citizens when the building was first in the plans, and she was a part of getting it going in the 70’s in Kanab. Wish I could attend the services but unfortunately, I can’t.
Craig was always a kind man. He would always stop and spend a minute to talk with me when he saw me at the store. He was always willing to help you if you were in need of anything. He will be missed by all who knew him. R.I.P. Craig.
Through church and living around the corner in Cottonwood Lane, I remember Craig was always so cheerful, positive, and friendly! I am very sorry for your loss, Hansen family.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this time. Brother Hansen was an incredible primary teacher to my daughter Marilyn and we are grateful for him. Thank you for your service, sacrifice, and always having that beautiful smile on your face Brother Hansen. Barbara, our thoughts and prayers are with you and we pray the angels surround you with love and comfort at this time.
Thanks for all the good memories at Western Rivers Exp. You’ll always be in our hearts.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time. Craig will be deeply missed on this earth, but his impact will live on through the wonderful stories he shared. We are grateful to have known him. Sending much love and comfort your way.
Some of my greatest river memories were during Craigs tenure at Western River Expedition. So sorry to hear about this. I really loved Him and his family. 🙏
