Marjorie Andersen

Marjorie Heaton Andersen peacefully passed away while attended to and cared for by her devoted family on October 21, 2021 in Alton, Utah. She was born on June 9, 1934 in Salt Lake City, Utah into the loving family of Merrill William Heaton and Afton Jenkins. She was reared in Alton, Utah among her siblings Richard (deceased) (Marva) Heaton, Darol (Georgia) Heaton, Vaughn (Lenore-deceased) Heaton, Carol Jean (Wendell) Eves, Dennis (Teresa) Heaton, Irene (Dennis) Jones and Sarah (Robbin) Fisher. She was proud to be part of the Heaton, Jenkins, and Pyper family clans. She attended and graduated from Valley High School in Orderville, Utah. She moved to Salt Lake City, Utah to attend the University of Utah and work. She married the love of her life, Arthur Willi Riget Andersen of Aarhus, Denmark on March 29, 1957, in the Salt Lake Temple. She incorporated some of the Danish culture into her family’s traditions and learned to make various Danish pastries, treats and food, which she shared with her friends, neighbors, and husband’s work colleagues. She taught her children Erik Arthur (Heather) Andersen, Selma Jean (Darryl) Lehmitz, William Lance (Deborah) Andersen, and Christian Leif (Annette) Andersen to walk uprightly before the Lord by her example, and by serving in various capacities in the Relief Society, Young Women’s, and Primary organizations of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. In various ways she fulfilled her civic duties which included being a regular voter. She devoted her life to her most valued profession as wife, mother, and homemaker, but also worked as a weight-loss consultant and at Taylorsville Elementary School as a lunch worker, speech therapy aide, and playground monitor. She is survived by three brothers and three sisters, her beloved husband and children, 18 grandchildren and 16+ (one on the way) great grandchildren. Her family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the loving care given her by Erik and Heather Andersen, and Zions Way Hospice.
Funeral services will be held in Alton, Utah at the ward meeting house on Saturday, October 30, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. A viewing will be held prior at 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at the same location. Interment, Alton cemetery. Services under the direction of Mosdell Mortuary in Kanab, Utah.

    I am so sorry for your loss. I remember Marjorie with Willi and spending time with them at an apartment that I recall may have been at the UofU. If my memory isn’t fully gone I think I actually babysat once. Love the Heaton family all of you.
