Marie Chell

 Marie Leslie Chell (nee Buckingham) of Fredonia, AZ, passed away May 6, 2023, at the age of 79. She was born on June 4, 1943, in Wilmington, Delaware to Alberta Berniece Crossgrove and Harvey Lemuel Buckingham. Her father passed away when Marie was quite young, and she had the opportunity to have a wonderful stepfather, Frank Kelly. 
 Marie married Robert Peter Chell Sr. on June 23, 1962, in Elsmere, Delaware, and raised five children: Patricia Bagley (Calvin), Robert Chell Jr (Catherine), James Chell (Patricia), Bernadette Duvall (Steve), and Daniel Chell (Andrea). 
 After her marriage Marie and family moved several times. She lived in Norristown, PA; Casper, WY; Mesa, AZ; Fredonia, AZ; Silver Springs, NV; and Justin, TX. Marie worked as a cook at several restaurants most notably the iconic Nedra’s Café in Fredonia, AZ a must stop eatery on the way to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. 
 Marie was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and lived her life as an example of kindness and love.
  Marie was a devoted and loving grandmother who poured her heart into creating beautiful and cherished gifts for her family. She made blankets for each of her 19 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren, as well as handmade doll clothes and fabric toys. Her attention to detail and craftsmanship ensured that each item was unique and made with love. She never missed a birthday, always sending thoughtful cards to her loved ones. She enjoyed making dolls and crocheting. She loved her flowers and the hummingbirds that visited her front porch. 
 She was preceded in death by her mother, father, stepfather, her brother Edward Buckingham and sister Marlene Kelly and her grandson, Levi House. 
 A funeral service will be held for Marie on May 20,2023 at 12 Noon (AZ Time) at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Fredonia Arizona, 80 South Main Street, in honour of her life and legacy. She will be buried in the Fredonia Arizona Cemetery. She will be dearly missed but will forever be remembered as a dedicated loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Until we meet again.

    R.I.P. Marie. I used to work with Marie at 4 Seasons Restaurant in Kanab in the late 70s. I was recently able to spend time getting to know her again. What a kind woman. Thoughts & prayers to her family. She will be missed.
