Marcelo Garcia

Marcelo Fierro Garcia, age 77, passed peacefully in his beloved home surrounded by family on Friday, March 4, 2022 in Kanab, Utah. He was born January 2, 1945 in Santa Barbara, Chihuahua, Mexico to Soledad Fierro and Hermelindo Garcia.
Marcelo’s early childhood was spent in the small mining town of Santa Barbara, Chihuahua, later relocating to Ciudad Juarez. He spent his early 20s living and working in California. He married the love of his life, Andrea Susana, on March 11, 1983. They left Juarez bound for Del Rio, Texas. Four of his 7 boys were born and raised in Del Rio. With an invitation and opportunity from a friend, Marcelo and his family made the pilgrimage to Kanab, Utah in 1997. The last 2 of his 7 boys were born in Kanab, and all of his boys are Kanab High School graduates. After 25 plus years of working in manufacturing, shipping, and receiving industry, Marcelo retired in 2009 while working for Stampin’ Up.
The quality of a man is best seen through his actions. Everything he did was for his family. One of his greatest accomplishments, along with the help of his loving wife, was keeping the 7 boys in line. When not cheering and supporting his boys in all their endeavors, you could find him playing his guitar and singing. Attention to detail was his key. Everything had its place, everything was given its full respect; Always clean, smelling good, and well put together. His faith and guiding principles played a major role in how he led his family.
Marcelo is survived by his beautiful wife Andrea Susana; his 7 boys Josue Rivera (Yvonne Manzanarez), Sammy (Angela), Marcelo Jr. (Toni Ann), Miguel (Niquelle) Helaman (Erin), Luis, and Andres; his sister Maria (Charles) Patterson and their 3 boys Alvin, Albert, and Gerald; and 9 amazing grandchildren Mekhi, Lukas, Evan, Zoe, Daniel, Mila, Malia, Ava, and Anuel.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 12, 2022 at 11:00 AM in the Kanab South Chapel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. There will be a viewing at the church from 10:00-10:45 AM before the services. Burial will be in the Kanab Cemetery. Services were arranged with Mosdell Mortuary.
