MARC HUNTER

Marc Wolfe Hunter was born March 16, 1948 in National City, California and died December 25, 2019 in Clearfield, Utah. Married to Sheryl Mose and later divorced. Met and then married Helen Johnson Hunter in Kanab and later was sealed to her in the St. George, Utah Temple.

Marc was raised in San Diego, California, where he learned to love plants and helping his mother plant and take care of her yards while he was growing up. He had many interests and talents throughout his life, including plants, pleasing his wife with beautiful flower beds and vegetable gardens, feeding and watching birds, fishing, hiking, camping, scouting (especially with his sons), astronomy, reading, member missionary work, family history & temple work.

He was active in the Civil Air Patrol in High School, and at age 19 he entered the Military in the Air Force and after basic training went to Alaska for almost 2 years, then served in Vietnam for about 18 months, and then he was at Travis Air Force Base, California for the remainder of his 4 year service before he was released.

Marc was introduced to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at the age of 24 and was baptized a member. He has held many positions in the church, including scoutmaster, member of a bishopric, high councilman, High Priest Group Leader, Sunday School President, Priesthood meeting instructor, stake clerk, Family History Consultant, Temple worker in the Los Angeles and San Diego Temples, and others.

He worked for plant nurseries before and after the military service. For a time he worked at General Dynamics in the Electronic Division. He also worked at the San Diego Temple grounds as the grounds supervisor, and designed the grounds for the temple as it was still being built. He loved his work there and had many great stories to tell of his experiences there on the grounds and in the temple.

He is preceded in death by his father, mother, and brother.

He is survived by his sister Holly (Phil) Stull, wife, Helen Johnson Hunter, former wife Sheryl Mose Hunter. Children: Joshua (Laura) Hunter, Amber Hunter, Jeremiah (Sarah) Hunter, Jared (Amber) Hunter, Autumn Ellsworth (Aaron), Jennifer Hunter, Christopher Hunter, and Jason (Katie) DiMauro. Grandchildren: Lance, Samantha, Brin, Owen, Chase, Dane, Isaac, Haylee, and Samantha (all last name of Hunter), Kylee, Garrett, Emily and Jacob (all last name Ellsworth), and Laura DiMauro

An evening view will be held in Clinton, UT at the Church of Jesus Christ of Later-day Saints – 2841 W 1300 N from 6:30-8:30PM.

Funeral Service will be held at 11:00AM Saturday, January 4, 2020 at the Moccasin, AZ LDS Chapel. Viewings will be held Friday, January 3, 2020 from 6:00-7:00PM at Mosdell Mortuary and Saturday, January 4, 2020 at 10:00AM at the Moccasin Chapel. Interment in the Moccasin Cemetery under the direction of Mosdell Mortuary.
