LouAnn Smith

Mildred LouAnn Smith, beloved Friend, Mother, Grandmother and Wife, died Wednesday October 17, 2018 in St George, Utah. She was born March 21, 1942 in Heber City, Utah to Wiley Mason and Ila Roberts Lane. She graduated from Beauty School in 1961 in Salt Lake City, Utah, and was a beautician until the late 1970s.  She married Gary Gregory in 1951, and was later divorced.  She later married Kenneth Wayne Smith on June 18, 1971, and they were sealed in the Los Angeles Temple for time and all eternity on March 13, 1976.
LouAnn was a loving and devoted wife to Ken. She and Ken lived in Kanab, UT for over 30 years after leaving Grand Terrace, CA in 1984, where they had raised their six children. LouAnn was dedicated to being of service and spent most of her life serving others. She loved people and people loved her. Many of her friends remember her fancy loaves of bread, herb oils, plates of cookies, pots of soup and jams delivered at just the right time with a warm smile and loving heart. She had a gift for caring for others.
Creating was her passion. She spent countless hours with her quilting club. It was not uncommon to find LouAnn in her apron orchestrating a delectable meal for a large group of friends to enjoy. Some of her favorite memories were cooking side by side with her father creating dutch oven meals and New Year’s Eve party meals. LouAnn enjoyed riding mountain bikes, ATV riding in beautiful Kanab, and snow mobile riding and watching the wildlife on Cedar Mountain with her family.
LouAnn was a devoted wife to her husband Ken; a loving mother to her three children, Shawna May in Twin Falls, ID, Tracy Gregory in Kanab, UT and Todd Gregory in Kapauu, HI, and three step children Darlene Bentley, Dorothy Neal and Darrell Smith in southern California; and a loving grandmother to her 11 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents Wiley and Ila Lane, her sisters Vicki Coats and Robin Lane.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, October 24, 2018 at the South Church of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Kanab, Utah, with burial in the Kanab Cemetery.  Arrangements were made with Mosdell Mortuary.
