Lewis Kay Sidwell
Fredonia, Arizona
Lewis Kay Sidwell, age78, passed away suddenly at his home in Fredonia, Arizona on October 15, 2020. He was born October 14, 1942 in Nephi, Utah to Loren Robinson Sidwell and Julie S. Stanley. Lewis grew up in Nephi, Utah where he spent most of his days “Raising Cain” and keeping saltine crackers in his pockets.
Lewis met the love of his life, his soulmate Jill ReNee Peterson in 1961. They later married and settled in Mount Pleasant, Utah where he worked for his father-in-law at the Brooklyn Cheese Factory. Lewis and Jill had 6 children, with their first son Jeffrey returning to heaven one short month after birth. They relocated to Panguitch, Utah so Lew could manage the cheese factory there with his brother Robert Sidwell. After the cheese factory closed, Lewis moved on to work for PBI, running freight to Page, Arizona.
Lewis’ next adventure took him to Kaibab Industries in Fredonia, Arizona where he ran the debarker and met many friends. When Kaibab closed in 1994, he moved on to Best Western Red Hills Motel as the maintenance supervisor. He worked there with his wife Jill, eventually moving on again to his last adventure at Recreation Retreat where he and his wife recently retired in May of 2020.
His many adventures kept him busy throughout his life, and he became a “Jack of Most Things”. He only had a 9th grade education, but he never failed at providing greatly for his family and others. He loved talking and sharing about his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He was a wonderful friend to many and kept them close to his heart.
Lewis is preceded in death by his son Jeffrey Lewis Sidwell, parents Julia Stanley & Loren Robinson Sidwell, brother Robert Sidwell, and granddaughter Amanda Michell Hatch.
He is survived by his wife Jill ReNee Sidwell; children Michell (Mike) Hatch, Lori Clements, Angela (Marc) DeMille, Shane Sidwell (Lisa Cotton), and Ray (Amber) Sidwell; brother David; three sisters Diann, Shirley, and Patsy; 11 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
