Larry Rose

Larry Rose, age 69, passed away on July 7, 2021. He was born on March 10, 1952, in Panguitch, UT, to Hyrum Irving Rose and Viola Burrows.
Larry grew up in Henrieville, UT. He learned the importance of perseverance and determination from working on the family farm. He developed a passion for heavy machinery and excavating from his dad, who let him ride with him as he operated dozers. After graduating from Bryce Valley High School, Larry served for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the Ohio-West Virginia mission. After returning from his mission, Larry attended the University of Utah, worked as a geologist for an oil field in Midland, TX, then attended Southern Utah State College (SUU). It was there he met Laraine DeMille, whom he later married in the St. George LDS temple on June 23, 1978.
Larry started Larry Rose Construction in 1975 which continues to operate today. His naturally analytical mind was used every day in everything he did. He would mentally plan work projects in his head thoroughly before the first piece of equipment was moved to the site.
Larry was a dedicated member of the LDS church, serving in numerous positions. His favorite was serving in the nursery. He also enjoyed history, geology, and photography. His true passion was spending time with family. Some of his favorite moments were taking day trips and going on adventures with his grandchildren. Larry was a wonderful son, husband, father, grandfather, and friend.
Larry is survived by his wife Laraine; children Laurie (Joe) Trujillo of St. George, UT, Bruce (Autumn Mazzettia) of Golden, CO, Andrea (Brandon) Barney of St. George, UT, Kristen (Trent) Foote of Kanab, UT, and Lindsay (Jacob) Finkelstein of St. George, UT; and siblings Evon (Jon) Seely, Joanne (Martin) Hermansen, Janis (Tom) Kline, Peggy (Dane) Boren, and sister-in-law Kristine (Jim) Milne; and eleven grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents Hyrum Irving Rose and Viola Burrows, and his brother Bruce.

Larry Rose and I served in the Ohio West Virginia Mission. We both grew up in small rural Utah towns. When we picked Elder Rose up from the airport he had cowboy boots hung around his neck. . I new he was going to be a great missionary. He was an outstanding rock solid missionary. I have often retold stories about what a great missionary he was. Heaven received a special man.
