Kathryn King

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the departure of our beloved mother, wife, sister and daughter: Kathryn Olivia (Baer) King from this world July 5th, 2022 in her home in Kanab, Utah with her husband by her side.

Kathy was born in Ogden, Utah to Larry D. and Iva J. Baer who were residents of Morgan, Utah. She would spend her mid childhood in Elko/Spring Creek, Nevada where she helped raise goats, chickens and pigs. She later moved to North Las Vegas and then to Las Vegas where she attended and graduated from Western High School. After graduating she worked at Florsheim shoes in the Meadows mall and attended the singles ward in the Robindale Chapel where she met her Husband while Co-coaching a softball team. Although they butted heads at first, Scott’s dashing good looks, charming personality and irresistible smolder won her over. They were sealed together for time and all eternity in the St. George, Utah temple. They soon began a family that eventually grew to 7 children- Scott Jr, James “Peach”, Jennifer, Anna, Joshua, Sarah and William with 2 miscarriages of Katrina and Aaron.

Though her most important and beloved job was as a mother she also sold shoes at Florsheim and Dustin & Murphy shoes, managed finances for King’s Lawn Maintenance, drove school buses, was a volunteer EMT, co-owned and managed a motorhome company, was a clerk at Wally’s and most recently worked in the finance department for the Kaibab Paiute tribe.
Kathy was a loving wife and mother who was always her childrens’ biggest fan, easily out cheering any others in the crowds whether at sporting events or concerts. She was an excellent caregiver aiding her mother and father-in-law until they departed. She was always active in the church serving in numerous callings.

Survivors include her husband Scott W. King Sr., her Father Larry Baer, her 7 children; Scott Jr, James “Peach” (Lynsey), Jennifer, Anna, Joshua, Sarah and William (Alyssa). Her 5 grandchildren Caden, Isaac, Emmry, Connor and Ivesley. Her siblings Laura (Kevin), Larry (Becky), Willie (Lisa). She was preceded in death by her mother Iva J. Baer, and her sister Mary Elizabeth Baer.

Funeral services will be held July 16th, 2022 at 2pm in the Kaibab Ranchos Stake Center 1435 South McCallister Drive Kanab Utah 84741. A public viewing starting at 12:30pm prior to the funeral. Internment in the Kanab City Cemetery. The Family would like to request that instead of sending flowers that the money will be spent on activities with your own families.

The Family would like to express our gratitude to Mom’s ministering sisters Lisa Church, and Debra Glover, as well as Linda Chatterley for all their help especially in the last few weeks for going above and beyond. There are many, many others who we wish to thank but don’t have the space. Thank you all who have sent well wishes, food, prayers and many other types of support. We can’t express in words how much it means to us.
