Joey Babb

Joey “Joe” Ray Babb, 52, passed away on July 3, 2024, at his home in Page, Arizona.
He was born on October 13, 1971, in Phoenix, Arizona, to Linda Sue (Babb) Payne and
Frank Ortiz Careaga. He grew up in Phoenix and Chandler, Arizona, graduated from
Chandler High School in 1989, and went on to work an extensive career spanning his
lifetime. His career began in cotton agriculture and research, next he drove semi-trucks
and worked in management for Coke, Shamrock Foods and Conway throughout
Arizona and Nevada, he moved over to Crown Products at Black Mesa Mine for 10
years. The last seven years of his career were at Glen Canyon National Recreation
Area as the Fleet Coordinator / Warehouse Manager.
Joe’s passion for golf and football was evident in everything he did. He spent countless
hours playing golf, watching football with his beloved Dallas Cowboys, and playing in his
fantasy football league. His enthusiasm was infectious. He was also deeply committed
to caring for all animals and critters, making a difference in the lives of those he
touched.
In 2021, Joe reunited with his high school sweetheart Karolynn (Kiefer) Babb, and they
were married in 2022. Joe had one daughter, Victoria Babb, and stepson, Gabriel
McMurray, along with his dogs – Zoe, Miss Molly, Papi and Mojo, and grand-dog
Bowen. He was a devoted spouse, father, son and brother, always putting his family
first and cherishing every moment spent with them. He is survived by his wife, Karolynn
(Kiefer) Babb, daughter Victoria Babb, stepson Gabriel McMurray, his mother, Linda
Sue (Babb) Payne, brothers Christopher Farar and Willis Farar. Joe was preceded in death by his father Frank Ortiz Careaga and his brother Daniel Mendoza.
Joe was known for his kind and gentle nature and was admired by all who knew him. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and community.
The celebration of Joe Babb’s life will be Saturday, July 20th, 4:30 – 7:30pm at Lake Powell National Golf Course Clubhouse – 400 Clubhouse Drive – Page, AZ 86040 – Rev. Paula Gold will lead the service.
Mosdell Mortuary in Kanab, Utah took care of the final arrangements.
