Jerrol Leavitt

Jerrol Beatty Leavitt, 79, passed away Thursday, March 16, 2023, at home, surrounded by his wife and 2 girls, after fighting a courageous battle with Pulmonary Fibrosis and Liver disease. He was a devoted father, husband and grandpa.
Jerrol was born on February 2, 1944 in St George to Jack & Dorene Beatty Leavitt. He was the second of 5 children. He grew up in Hurricane, Utah attending grade school and high school there. He married Peggy Somerville in 1963 in Hurricane, Utah, later sealed in the St. George, Utah temple in 1983. They recently celebrated their 59th anniversary.
He had many jobs in his young adult years. In 1973, he took a job for Arizona Fuels which moved their family to Kanab where they live and raised their two daughters. He retired from Kane County Special Service District after 24 years of working there.
Jerrol was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, where he held many callings including bishopric, Elders Quorum Presidency, Sunday school teacher. He and Peggy served a mission in the Tulsa Oklahoma mission.
He loved being outdoors, camping for family reunions, building and expanding the family property for reunions and exploring the beautiful country of Southern Utah. He was a skilled automobile mechanic and enjoyed tinkering on anything he could get his hands on.
He is survived by his sweetheart Peggy, his daughter Kim (Stuart) Willoughby, Tammi (Brandon) Shepherd, 7 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Siblings – CF (Anna) Oliphant, Dell Lane (Jennie) Leavitt, LuNetta (Joe) Ipson, Ronnow (Rhonda) Leavitt and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, his sister Jeanie, and his son Donny, who passed away as an infant.

Funeral services will be held at the Kanab Stake Center 20 W Center. Saturday March 25th, 2023, Viewing will be from 9:30- 10:45, Funeral 11 am.
Graveside will be at the Toquerville Cemetery 119 N. Toquer Blvd that same day at 4pm.
