Jerold “Jerr” T. Jones, 75, of Kanab, Utah, passed away on April 19, 2026, surrounded by his family. He was born on March 20, 1951, in Salt Lake City to Leslie William Jones Jr. and Alvera Teeples Jones, and was the youngest of their children.
Jerr grew up with three older sisters, and as the baby of the family they will happily tell you he was very spoiled. He learned to play the viola and performed with the family string quartet in venues across the Salt Lake Valley. He also joined the Symphony of the Canyons for several years. He carried a light‑hearted, good‑natured humor throughout his life. He was an Eagle Scout, served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter‑day Saints in the Colorado–New Mexico area, and earned a Bachelor of Science from Brigham Young University.
On August 13, 1976, Jerr married the love of his life, Norma Lynn Corry, in the Manti Utah Temple. Together they built a family grounded in love, loyalty, and laughter.
In 1989, Jerr and his wife, Norma, moved to Kanab, Utah, where he began working in the family business. For the next 35 years, he delivered meat to Kanab and the surrounding communities, forming friendships everywhere he went. Whether he was dropping off an order or swapping stories on a doorstep, Jerr had a way of making people laugh and feel like they’d known him forever.
Jerr is survived by his wife, Norma; his children Jeremy (Danielle) Jones, Kimberlyn (Cloyd) Roundy, Tori (Cash) Jessop, Megan (Jesse) Jones, and Jordan (Kira) Jones; 15 grandchildren; and one great‑grandchild. He is also survived by his sisters Cheryl (Rick) Skousen, Wynette (Dennis) Greer, and Nadine (Dean) Fletcher; his brothers‑in‑law Don (Gina) Corry, Mark (Dena) Corry, and Boyd (Barbara) Corry; and many nieces and nephews who loved him dearly. He is preceded in death by his parents; his three infant brothers, John, Leslie, and Brent; and his father‑ and mother‑in‑law, Lamar and Anita Corry.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 25th, with a viewing beginning at 10:30 a.m. and services at 12:00 p.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter‑day Saints, 20 W Center St, Kanab, UT 84741. He will be laid to rest in the Kanab City Cemetery following the services.
Jerr will be remembered for his quick wit, his warm heart, and the way he made every person he met feel like a friend. The family wishes to give a special thank‑you to Zions Way Hospice for helping us navigate this last year, and especially to Nicole Barca — his nurse and our friend.
The Vances feel blessed by knowing Jerry. He always had a smile and set a great example of positivity.
