Jeffrey Clyde Mitchell, age 56, died following a courageous fight with cancer on Wednesday, August 13, 2025 in his home in South Jordan, Utah.
Jeff was born to David and Connie Mitchell in Provo, Utah, June 29, 1969. Jeff grew up and attended school in the Miami Florida area. He served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Houston, Texas from 1988-1990. Afterwards he moved to Provo, Utah to attend Brigham Young University. Upon arriving in Utah, Jeff quickly found his spouse and was married in the St. George, Utah LDS Temple to Kathryn Baird. Jeff and Kathryn were married for 34 years and raised three good looking kids because they don’t make ugly babies.
Jeff started out working for Pepsi Co. in St. George before transferring to Elko, Nevada in 2000. While in Elko, Jeff transitioned to working for a drilling company. He worked in various manager positions for different drilling companies over the course of 21 years. Jeff was able to complete his bachelor’s degree in Business Administration in 2021 while working full time. Jeff believed that receiving an education was important for bettering his life and career and encouraged others to get an education as well. Church service was also important in his life. He fulfilled various callings and enjoyed attending overnighters and other church activities with his children. He loved working with the youth programs in the church. It gave him license to continue to be a big kid.
Hunting, fishing, and sports (particularly baseball) were some of Jeff’s biggest passions and he enjoyed them more when he could do it with his loved ones. One of his fondest memories from his youth was being out fishing in the ocean with his grandpa on his boat. In his adult life he enjoyed spending time with his family as much as he could and did so by coaching them in various sports, attending games, meets, concerts, and other events that his children participated in. Jeff worked hard to provide for his family, and ensured that they were able to enjoy many luxuries in life. He looked forward to traveling with his family and sought to experience different eateries and local attractions.
Jeff enjoyed educating others on interesting facts, history of actors/actresses and what they are in, and classic rock. He could often be found watching old western movies and reminiscing about radio shows that he had listened to when he was younger. He will be remembered for his desire to serve those around him, his integrity, the sacrifices he made, and overall the extensive love he had for his wife, kids, and grandson.
Jeff is survived by his wife Kathryn; his children Houston, MarLee (Connor Bradley), and Kenna (Drew Gidewall); grandson Wilder Bradley; father David Mitchell; sisters (Teresa, Andrea, Dora, Sarah, Becky and their families). Jeff was preceded by his mother, grandparents, mother and father in-law.
There will be a funeral in Jeff’s honor. Visitations with the family will be Friday, August 22nd 6:30-8:00pm and Saturday, August 23rd 9:30-11:00am. The funeral service will be Saturday at 11:00am. The services will be at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints building, 11251 South 2700 West, South Jordan, UT 84095.

Kathryn and family, wherever a beautiful soul has been, there is a trail of beautiful memories. Wishing you peace to bring you comfort, courage to face the days ahead and loving memories to forever hold in your heart. May love and support surround you during this time of sadness. My deepest condolences to you all.
Jeff was a hard worker and a funny guy. Always had a quip to make heads turn. He gave service to those around him and will be missed.
Dear Kathryn and Family,
I am so sorry to hear of Jeffs passing. He was definitely one of the good guys. I so enjoyed working with him at Pepsi and still miss Kathryn cutting my hair!
May the lord and our prayers bring you peace during this hardest part of life.

Jeff Mitchell was a brave man! When he married Kathryn, I’m not sure he realized what he had taken on. Not only was she the youngest daughter in the family, she was also very much protected by the rest of her siblings. And she has always been a determined, but devoted person. We just call her stubborn. 😉 Jeff proved he was capable though and The Baird Clan claimed him as one of their own.
I was/am impressed by his willingness to serve others. He always did a remarkable job no matter what he was called to do. And the same with his work and family.
He was loved by all and is terribly missed already. There is a big empty place in our lives because he
is no longer here with us.
Kathryn, we pray that you and your family will find peace and comfort. We will never forget Jeff because he was such a good man.
We are here for you. ❤️❤️❤️
Dear Kathryn,
I am at a loss for words after hearing the sudden news of your husband passing. I offer my heartfelt condolences. May the peace of the Lord be with you and your family.
Kathryn-my love goes out to you and yours. I always admired your beautiful family. Jeff was one of the hardest working people I’ve ever known. I know he was firm in his beliefs and spent his life living what he believed. Amy
To the Mitchell’s.. He was the best! We had no idea when we moved next door we would make close life long friends! How much fun we had visiting and laughing and gabbing about everything! I mean he sold Pepsi! Your dog was named Pepsi and those yummy icy Pepsis in your machine saved us every Sunday!! Your Jeff was the brother my Jeff never had and I’m sure yours felt the same! They shared a lot of fun times with the youth, serving in church and laughing at each others hunting stories. His laugh was contagious! I remember us crying for months when you moved Kathryn! We missed you all so much! So grateful we have remained close all these years and so grateful we could be a part of his last year particularly. Watching him fight and the miracle of a pretty decent year. He was so blessed to meet Wilder and their time together couldn’t have been more perfect! Our hearts are broken for your children and family and all who loved him and we will miss him so much! I can’t imagine how we will all wait to see him in good health again, but it will be a great day!! Love you Kathryn and all your good lookin kids!! We consider you family! Love Keri (and Jeff) Paddock
Our deepest love and condolences to you, Kathryn, and your family. We are so sorry for your loss. Jeff was such a good man. We love you!
I’m deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Jeff. Though I didn’t know him personally on a close level, I always had a deep respect for his unwavering work ethic, his dedication, and the way he carried himself as a leader. He was the kind of person who led by example, hardworking, fair, and always approachable. My thoughts and heartfelt condolences go out to his family, friends, and everyone who had the privilege of working alongside him. His presence will be missed, but his legacy will live on in the many lives he touched.
May he rest in peace.
