Jacqueline S. Hill

Jacqueline Swick Hill, age 88, died October 20, 2020 in Kanab, Utah. She was born February 1, 1932 in Parker, Arizona to Teresa Myers and Ernest Swick, the 5th of 13 children. As a child she loved to run around in the hills before the River was tamed by the Dam. As a child, she and her siblings would swim across and fish the Colorado River where grew up.
Jacqueline met David Hill Sr. and married him in September of 1948. They would travel to hunt and for camping. They went many places in the west, including Colorado.
Jacqueline and David had 8 children and many adopted children. In the late 1970’s she followed her beloved David to the Kaibab Paiute Indian Reservation to be a missionary of the Pentecostal Church. She worked with the Tribe as a Title XX and III worker, then turned to Judicial work, and after that to Parker where she became Judge. When David passed away on Mother’s Day of 2000, she remained here a bit longer, then decided to work at Colorado River Indian Tribe Judicial, where she retired 20 years later. She always traveled back and forth from the Kaibab Tribe to the Colorado River Indian Tribe. She had brothers, sisters, children, neices, nephews and grandchildren she loved to see when in each area. She loved watching her grandchildren play sports.
In her last year, she wanted to go back to Parker, where she stayed with her grandson. When she could, she would travel to find a thrift store. It didn’t matter what kind, she loved to look and touch to see what she could find. She loved to be on the go with her daughters or granddaughters. She had always wanted to see Niagra Falls and Monument Valley, but now she is seeing something more beautiful than those places.
Survivors include all of 8 of her children Daphne Poolaw, David Hill Jr., Esther Bonnie Hill, Mercedes Hill, David Prieta, Hershel Hill, Opal Hill, and Quentin Hill; 1 sister Shuron Bow; 30 grandchildren, 82 great-grandchildren, and 13 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her other brothers and sisters, and her husband David Hill Sr.
