In Loving Memory of Doris Jean Horton

Doris Jean Horton, known as a beautiful wife, mom, Grandma Jean, GG-Ma, aunt, sister, and friend, sadly passed away on January 21st, 2025 in the Assisted Living facility in Kanab, Utah. She had just turned 89. Her passing has left an emptiness in the hearts of all those who loved her, knew her, and cared for her.

Doris, or Jean as most knew her, was born December 31, 1935 in Moline, Illinois to Hugh Kenchen Robbins and Francis Marie Hall-Robbins. Doris had 5 siblings whom she loved dearly, Violet “Tootsie”, Louise, Dorothy “Pug”, Vern and Eileen. Doris had 2 step-siblings as well, Thomas and James, both from a previous marriage of her father Hugh Robbins.

Doris Jean’s mother passed away at a very early age of 44 and that made it difficult on her and all her siblings growing up. Doris did her high school years in Verdon, Illinois, and graduated from San Fernando High in California.

Doris Jean later met the love of her life, David M Horton, and they were married July 15th, 1961 in the Little Brown Church in North Hollywood, California. They were later blessed with a son in 1963, David L Horton, and a daughter in-law Kathy Jones Horton in 1987.

Doris Jean’s life was also blessed with 3 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild; Kaylie Horton- Gardner her husband Chris Gardner, Joshua Horton; and Evelynn “Evie” Gardner.

Doris Jean used her many skills and talents to do just about anything she wanted to. She loved sewing, crocheting, and quilting. She was a good housekeeper, and a stay at home Mom. Doris earlier in her life worked for Litton Industries, Inc. as a board soldier for electronics.

Doris Jean’s top priority was family. Her family came above everything else in her life. She loved being with her husband, her son and daughter-in-law, her grandkids, and her great-grandchild. She loved getting together with all her brothers and sisters, nieces, nephews, and their extended families and friends. Doris Jean loved laughing all the time!

Doris Jean was preceded in death by both her parents, and all her brothers and sisters. Doris was the last one to return home to Heaven.

Doris Jean touched so many lives with her beautiful smile and her love and compassion for others. She will be dearly missed by those who knew her.

Those who welcomed her home in heaven will all be rejoicing! Let the party begin!!!. Doris Jean we send all our love and devotion to you, until we meet again!!!
