Harvey Bernard Zilm Jr

Harvey Bernard Zilm Jr was born April 10, 1927, in San Diego California to Harvey Bernard Zilm Sr and Edith Margaret Haller. After graduating from Santa Cruz California High School he was drafted into the army. He served overseas in Korea toward the end of WWII. After his release from the Army in February 1947, he had the opportunity to meet his pen pal Betty Jensen in Springville, Utah. They were married in May 1947 and had three children. Harvey had several occupations during his life including ranch hand, mechanic, fleet manager, and program manager for senior citizens. On his birthday in 1964, he was baptized a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He remained an active member throughout the balance of his life. He held various church callings, served a full-time mission, worked in the temple, and spent numerous hours on genealogy and family history. He faithfully attended sacrament meetings right till the very end. To quote him “these have been the best years of my life”. Harvey passed peacefully on August 17, 2023. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of fifty years, Betty Jensen Zilm, his son, Robert Zilm, his second wife Catherine Zilm, and his third wife Juanita Zilm. He leaves behind his daughter, Edith Nilsson (Nathan) and son, Richard Zilm (Sydna), seventeen grandchildren, fifty-three great-grandchildren, eight great, great-grandchildren, and numerous others who loved him.

A viewing will be held Saturday, August, 26, 2023 from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. at the LDS church building in Florence, Arizona with the funeral following at 11:00 a.m.  Harvey will be laid to rest next to his beloved wife, Betty at the Kanab Cemetery in Kanab, Utah on Monday, August 28, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. MDT.
