Grant Myers Tebbs, age 86, peacefully passed away on September 19, 2023, in Panguitch, Utah.
He was the middle of 5 children born on May 4, 1937, to James Calvin and Della Rebecca Peterson Tebbs. He grew up in Panguitch and on the Tebbs Ranch at Panguitch Lake, graduating from Panguitch High School in 1955.
Grant entered the military in 1955 and served for three years. He dated his sweetheart, Avonell, mostly through letters until they married on April 28, 1956. She joined him in Bad Nauheim, Germany and shortly thereafter gave birth to their oldest son, James Afton, in Frankfurt. They returned to their home in Panguitch where two girls, Kerri and Kathy Ann, joined their family and eleven years later Kim Grant was born.
Grant enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and creating his own short cuts. He competed in sharp shooting and won many medals throughout the years. He loved spending time at Panguitch Lake with his family where he built his own cabin. He will be remembered for his quick wit, kind heart, and love for his family.
He is survived by his wife Avonell, sons James Afton (MaryAnn) and Kim Grant (Sheresa), daughters Kathy Ann (Terry) Dutton and Kerri (Charlie) Cooper, 12 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and siblings Sherry (Clair) Veater, Kyle (Lynn) Tebbs, Nate (Elaine) Tebbs, and sister-in-law Peggy Tebbs.
He was preceded in death by his parents; father and mother-in-law, C. Afton and Sara Hepworth; granddaughter, Trenadie Leibenguth; grandsons, James Anthony Tebbs, Jack Walter Rollins; brother, Blaine A Tebbs; sister-in-law, Sandra Tebbs; In- laws, Chuck and Lorene Hepworth, and Romell and Betty Hepworth.
The family wishes to thank all those who gave special care to Grant during his time at Garfield Memorial Hospital.
A graveside service will be held at Panguitch City Cemetery Saturday 23, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. under the direction of Mosdell Mortuary.
