Gerald E Lunnen, our loving husband, dad and papa, passed away on October 17, 2018 at
his home in Kanab, Utah, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. We are sure there was a big
celebration welcoming him home. We hope heaven was ready for him, he is a handful.
He was born August 7, 1936 in Salt Lake City, Utah. He attended Jr. High in Bountiful, Utah
and graduated from South High School. He spent 3 years in the Air Force. April 20, 1964, he
married his sweetheart Sherrie Walker. They have been inseparable for 54 years. She will
miss him greatly.
Gerry managed a heavy equipment trucking company for 35 years. He owned his own
businesses for many years and hired special needs people to work for him. He loved them
and they adored him. He retired from the Kane County Office of Tourism in 2013.
Gerry enjoyed hunting ducks, geese and pheasants. He loved exploring, hiking and spending
time in the Red Hills of Kanab. His family will always remember how much he loved Marty
Robbins, watching Old Westerns, golf, M & M’s, chocolate malts, doughnuts, homemade
caramels made by him, and black coffee. What he loved most of all was spending time with his
family. He adored his wife and girls, his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Gerry is survived by his wife Sherrie Lunnen; his children Shaunna (Jeff) Stoddard, Jayme
(Norris) Church, and Marcee (Shane) Litanski; and their children and great grandchildren.
He was welcomed home by his father and mother Elbert and Alice Lunnen, his sister Kaye
Lippman, his daughter Camie Lunnen, son Todd Showell, and best friends Tom and Joe.
Graveside services were held Monday, October 22, 2018 at Noon in the Kanab
Cemetery. Arrangements were made with Mosdell Mortuary.
