Garry Jewel Beckwith

December 12th, 1953 – August 9th, 2026

Garry was born on December 12th, 1953, in Ely, Nevada, to Jewell and Irene Beckwith. He moved with his family to Page, Arizona in 1961, where he grew up alongside his siblings in Page, Arizona. 

Garry spent much of his life working in the nuclear industry as an outage manager. He worked for Bechtel as a weld engineer & outage manager at San Onofre, Diablo Canyon, and Rancho Seco nuclear power plants. In 1988, he was selected to work for the U.S. Department of Energy with Westinghouse Commercial Nuclear Fuel Division, where he was part of a team that received the nation’s highest recognition for performance excellence.

Throughout his career, Garry continued working as a nuclear outage manager on major projects across the country, including Maine and New Jersey. He was involved in the first state steam generator move from Seabrook Nuclear Power Plant to its installation at Salem Nuclear Power Plant. He later returned to Arizona, where he spent many years working at Palo Verde Nuclear Generating Station alongside his brother, Daniel. Garry’s professional life was defined by engineering, problem-solving, and contributions to some of the nation’s most significant nuclear projects. His career spanned decades and left a lasting legacy in the industry.

Beyond his work, Garry was a true Page pioneer who loved the community he grew up in. He collected guns and bottles, and he especially enjoyed sharing stories of his parents, his childhood, and his many adventures growing up in Page.

Garry passed away on August 9th, 2026. He is survived by his children, Jennifer & Oliser Ward III, Karmell & Corey Whitten, Samantha Beckwith & Clint Pellerin, Holli Beckwith & Josh Schmidt, Garry Jr. & Elena Beckwith, his 14 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren, his siblings, Daniel & Michelle Beckwith, Steven & Tina Beckwith, & Susan Larson. Garry was preceded in death by his parents: Jewell & Irene Beckwith, & Great Nephew, Matthew Cole Larson. 

Garry will be greatly missed.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 22, 2026, at 10:00 AM in the Page 1st Ward LDS Chapel, 313 South Lake Powell Blvd, with viewing starting at 9 AM. Burial will follow in the Page Cemetery. Services were arranged by Mosdell Mortuary of Kanab, Utah.
