Doris Williams

Our mom, Doris McBride Williams passed away Tuesday August 21, 2018 in her home surrounded by her family. Mom was born December 15, 1934 in Cedar City, Utah to Roy Albert & Aneeta Barton McBride. The youngest of five daughters she loved her life in her little hometown of Paragonah, Utah. Mom worked hard on the farm growing up, she loved milking the cows at 5 am and riding her horse as fast as it could go. Mom’s most wonderful blessing in all her life was our dad, Dallen R. Williams. The two had a love affair from the day they met. Mom would go to the end of the world as long as she was by his side. Mom and dad truly had it all; they loved and adored their five children Dallen Brent, Bruce R., Julie, Shaun McBride and Kimberlie. Mom’s life came to an abrupt halt when she lost dad in 1985 at the age of 50. This was the end of her world yet she knew she had to go forward. She worked hard and devoted her life to her kids. Tragically mom endured the worst possible event when she lost Shaun in a terrible accident in August 1988. She never faltered in her faith in the Savior or belief in her family, her love was endearing and unconditional. We were all broken yet we rallied together we knew more than ever the need to love and take care of each other. Love flourished with news that her first grandchild Tyson was on his way, then came Megan, then Wade a year later. This was moms greatest joy, this was what she needed to feel love, oh how she loves her grandchildren. Mom has 18 grandchildren, with 11 married and 8 great-grandchildren and two more on the way. Her grandchildren are her greatest treasures, she loves and adores them and reminded them of that every time she saw or spoke to them. Mom’s first surgery on her ankle was in 1994. After over 20 surgeries spanning an 8 year period complications arose that ultimately resulted in the loss of her leg. Over the next 16 years she suffered with major physical injuries and ailments, together as a family we overcame each injury and trial with Mom’s perseverance & positivity paving the way. Mom’s unwavering focus on family can be summed up best through her own words,

“If I had a choice to see my kids and grandkids for one more moment, but had to endure everything I have suffered in my life all over again; I would without hesitation say yes.”

Mom was an active and faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She has a strong testimony of the gospel and a deep love for her Savior. Mom’s service for the church began at the age of 12 where she was the ward organist in her hometown of Paragonah. Her musical talent was enjoyed by many as she continued to serve as the ward organist for over 60 years. She diligently honored many callings throughout her life in ward, stake, and regional capacities.

Mom is preceded in death by her parents, 4 sisters, Barbara, Lois, Thelma & Helen, nieces, nephews. Her husband Dallen, & son Shaun.

Her children, Dallen Brent (Jodi) Williams, Bruce R. (Lori) Williams, Julie (Shawn) Westwood, and Kimberlie (LaDell) Eyre, wish to express gratitude to all those who have brought joy into their mothers life and to the many who have helped care for her throughout the years. A heartfelt thanks to Johna & Shirley for the special care they showed to our mom, they will never be forgotten.
