Denny Cram

Our beloved mother and grandmother, Denevar “Denny” Lenore Averett Cram, returned to her heavenly home on June 30th, 2018.  She was born on October 27, 1939 in Kanab, Utah to Joseph Orville Averett and Nedra Brown.  Her siblings are Byron Averett, Pauline Burchinal, and Richard Baughman (deceased).

Denny graduated from Kanab High School in 1957, and then attended BYU and SUU.  In 1960 she became an airline stewardess for Eastern Airlines where she had the opportunity to see much of the country.  After the airlines, she moved to Phoenix, Arizona, where she met Valden Cram, who had been a classmate with her at Kanab Elementary.  They were married on the 4th of July, 1964 in Las Vegas, Nevada.  They made their home in Phoenix, where Denny worked for an orthodontist.  They adopted their first some, Marc Hale, in 1968.  They adopted a daughter, Richelle Kathleen, in 1969.  The family was sealed in the Mesa Arizona Temple in 1969.  Their son, Cevin Byron, was born in 1970.  The family then moved to Kanab, Utah in 1975.  Their daughter, Denae Dawn, was born in 1976, and the family made their final move to St. George in 1985.

Denny had a great joy in serving in the St. George Temple.  She also spent hours making quilts to donate to humanitarian projects.  Her greatest joy was her family, whom she served with selfless grace and humility, She will be remembered for her faithfulness, her elegance, and her consecrated life of service.

Denny is preceded in by her husband Valden Cram, her parents Joseph Averett and Nedra Baughman, and her brother Richard Baughman.

Survivors include her children Marc (Jacque) Cram of Las Vegas, Nevada, Richelle (Joe) Wilkins of Woodland Hills, Utah, Cevin (Sara) Cram of Cedar City, Utah, and Denae (Clint) Curtis of Delta, Utah; 17 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

A viewing will be held at the St. George 17th LDS Ward Church at 200 West 500 North in St. George on Friday, July 6th, from 6:00-8:00 PM, Funeral services will be at the same location on Saturday, July 7th, at 10:00 am, with viewing at 9:00 am.  Interment will be at the Kanab Utah Cemetery at 4:00 PM on Saturday.
