Debbie Kirby

Debra Joy Kirby passed quietly in her home on Saturday, July 16th, 2022. Debbie was born in Kanab on January 18, 1965 to George and Lonnie Kirby. As a child she loved to camp, play barbies and make up funny stories. She ran the neighborhood with the Mace and Vaughn kids, and her siblings Penny and Brad. In high school she was a Larriette and loved being a Kanab Cowboy. Her hate for Beaver ran strong.

She married Peter Eddy in 1986 and had three children; Natalie, Austin and Melissa. They divorced in 2004 but remained friends. They loved camping, lake powell trips and spending time together as a family. Deb was an amazing support to all her kids and loved cheering them on in all their activities. Later in Debbie’s life she spent time living in Hawaii and loved the ocean.

She had many different jobs that she loved in Kanab. She loved her regulars at Stage Stop and enjoyed seeing everyone that came in. Most recently, Deb was working as Pod Controller at the jail with the Kane County Sheriff’s Department, and absolutely loved it. She was the life of the party and loved to be with friends. She had so many dear friends that she loved so much. She loved nothing more than long coke runs and visits. The past few years she clung to her friends both near and far.

Her greatest joy in life was being a grandma to her 7 grandchildren. She doted on each one, and loved being able to spoil them.

A public viewing will be held on Tuesday, July 19th from 6-7 PM at Mosdell’s Mortuary with a Celebration of Life at 7pm. She will be buried next to her parents at a later date.

She is survived by her daughter Natalie (Kirk) Barney, her son Austin (Jordan) Eddy, and her daughter Melissa(Stanton) Upson. Deb leaves behind her older sister, Penny Kirby and wife Terri Henry. Deb was preceded in death by her mother, Lonnie Wright Kirby, her father George Ernest Kirby, and her brother Bradley Kirby.
