Colleen Miller

Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and good friend Colleen Miller, age 72, returned to our heavenly father Monday, February 7th, 2022, surrounded by her loving family. Colleen suffered from an illness in which she could not recover.

Colleen was born February 10th, 1949 in Cedar City, Utah to LaNard and Nan Johnson. She was the youngest of one brother, LaNard E Johnson and one sister Verda Salter. She grew up in Orderville and graduated from Valley High School in 1967. She married Kirk Covington July of 1967 and later divorced. They had one daughter Nanette Matthew. Colleen later married Wayne Miller on October 6th, 1973 at Wallace and Billie’s cabin at Panguitch Lake. They have been married for 48 years. They had two daughters Jolene Owens and Melissa Mosdell.

In their early years Wayne, Colleen, and the girls spent many nights out at the Bryce Canyon Rodeos where Colleen ran the clock and Wayne performed various duties. Wayne and Colleen were also involved with the Panguitch High School Invitational Rodeo. The family looked forward to the deer hunts and going to the cabin where the whole Miller family would gather. Colleen worked for Howard Construction, Security Title, and Garfield County Courthouse in the Assessor’s office where she worked for over 30 years. She also spent countless hours volunteering at the H&R True Value store where she enjoyed visiting with people and volunteering at Nan’s Daycare where she loved holding the babies. Colleen and Wayne enjoyed rides to Panguitch Lake and around town, Colleen enjoyed quilting, crocheting, reading books, and talking on the phone. She is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Her favorite calling was being a visiting teacher.

Colleen is survived by her husband Wayne, children: Nanette (Tony) Matthew, Jolene (Kory) Owens, and Melissa (Jody) Mosdell; 9 Grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren with one on the way; her sister Verda and brother LaNard E; In-laws Robert (Lynese) Miller, Arthur Miller, Liz Barney, Alleen (Kim) Sherwood, and Melanie (Ren) Holman.
