Christopher Phelon

Christopher Lance Phelon, 32, tragically passed away at his home on July 5, 2021 in Algona, Iowa. He was born September 10, 1988 in Murray, Utah. His family moved to Las Vegas, NV when he was 4 years old. Christopher graduated from Advanced Technologies Academy in Las Vegas in 2006. He attended Brigham Young University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Manufacturing Engineering Technology in December 2014. Christopher served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Lima, Peru from 2006-2008 where he learned to speak Spanish fluently and taught many people about Jesus Christ. He got married while he was a student at BYU. He and his spouse moved to Spirit Lake, IA in 2015 where he took a job with Polaris as a manufacturing engineer. For the past three years, he worked as an engineer for Snap-on Incorporated; he loved his job and considered his colleagues family.

Christopher was the father of two sons. His boys were the light of his life. He enjoyed building Legos and model cars, playing at the park, and walking the family dog with his sons.

He enjoyed serving others and had many friends whom he loved. Chris was always willing to lend a hand helping friends move and enjoyed spending time with his colleagues and community members. He was talented at taking on new projects such as painting his own truck, building a Kevlar canoe, and creating a playroom for his boys.

Christopher is survived by his mother and his sister. He was preceded in death by his father, John Wells Phelon Jr.

A Memorial Service for Christopher is being held on Saturday, July 17, 2021 at 11:00 am in the Alton Ward Chapel, Alton, Utah. Arrangements entrusted to Mosdell Mortuary – Kanab, Utah.

    Thinking of your family during this tragic time. Chris was one of my favorite people to work with. Always a prankster, he would sneak up on me and scare me often. I’d jump, he’d laugh, and then he’d happily tell me about his plans for the weekend. I have missed him this past week.
