Catherine Christensen

Catherine Renee Young Christensen took the next step in her eternal journey on the evening of June 18, 2018, surrounded by her daughters. She lived a full and blessed life while on the earth and now joins her husband, Lowell Haruo Christensen, on their journey through the eternities. She is survived by her sons, Jim (Char) and Brent (RuthAnn), and her daughters Cathy (Dave Bradley), Jill (Michael Williams), and

Bobbie (Kenny Broadhead). She has 26 grandchildren and 48 great-grandchildren to date, and her example of love, joy, happiness, caring, and charity will forever be her legacy.

Renee was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on July 23, 1925 to Lorenzo (Bing) Young and Catherine Aleine Margetts Young. After her sealing to Lowell in the Salt Lake City Temple on September 7, 1950, they moved to Honolulu, Hawaii. They enjoyed life in paradise for almost 20 years before returning to Utah to live in Provo, Utah where they lived for 42 years. She then moved to the Legacy Retirement Center in South Jordan, Utah where she flourished among her new friends.

Renee traveled the world with her husband and shared her love of all cultures with her children. Lowell and Renee served as senior missionaries in the Oakland California Mission (Laotian branch) for 18 months where they formed many lasting friendships. She was socially active as a volunteer and never met someone she did not genuinely care about. Her door was always open to friends and strangers alike and everyone was welcome and treated like family. Her ability to laugh and maintain a positive attitude will always be remembered.

We want to thank all the wonderful caregivers that provided support and help during the last months of her life. And a very heartfelt thanks to our sister Bobbie. Her love, compassion, and care for Mom over the past year was an inspiration to us all.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 5, 2018, at the Pleasant View First Ward building located at 650 East Stadium Avenue, Provo, Utah. A viewing for family and friends will be held at 11:30 AM and the funeral services will begin at 1:00 PM. Interment will follow at East Lawn Memorial Hills Cemetery in Provo, Utah.
