Betty Lilley

Betty Lou Lilley was born in St. Helens, Oregon on April 22, 1933 one of 10 siblings. She was born to Laura Mae Sanders and James Kenneth Harlin. Betty married Delbert B. Lilley on May 5, 1951. They were sealed in the Idaho Falls Temple. They couple lived in a rustic mountain home.

She spent her growing up years in Scappoose, Oregon. Betty was a very good cook who could bake anything. She sewed all of her husbands western shirts and grandkids clothes right down to the underwear. Betty sewed of her children’s school clothes. She quilted beautiful quilts with the temple templates. She crocheted beautiful afgans.

Betty loved the Relief Society and has served in many different callings involving Young Womens (MIA), Primary, and Relief Society programs. In her later years she did work at the history center and did a lot of genealogy. She also worked in the temple clothing center in Snowflake, Arizona when she and Delbert lived in Taylor, Arizona.

Betty took a college course in photography and has tons of photographs. She and Delbert took many genealogy trips to take care of headstones and graves. Delbert served in the Air Force and sometimes was gone for over a year but Betty served wherever she was and helped those around her, taking care of the household patiently waiting for Delbert’s return.

She is survived by her husband of 72 years Delbert Lilley, children; Diane (Andre) Bundy, Patricia (James) Jensen and Mark (Griselda) Lilley. 15 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and 5 great great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held at Mosdell Mortuary on Friday, February 16, 2024 at 2:00 PM with a viewing from 1:00-1:45 PM. Burial will be in the Fredonia City Cemetery.
