Bertha Waters

Bertha May Rucker Waters, 94, passed away in her home in Kanab, Utah on October 2, 2020. 

            She was born on May 2, 1926, the only child of Otto Lee and Rosa Sarah Burden Rucker.   She married Lorin Waters on January 21, 1943 in Pocatello, Idaho.   He died May 30, 2006

            She grew up in Collinston, Utah and attended Bear River High School in Garland, Utah.   After marrying Lorin, they lived in Ogden UT, Garland, UT, Fort Smith, AR, Crocker, MO, Yakima, WA, Brigham City, UT, Richfield, UT and then finally settled in Kanab, UT where they owned and operated the Kanab Coal Yard.   She spent many years operating the equipment as she loaded their customers.   She was happy that she was still able to climb up and sit in the tractor seat on her 90th birthday. 

            She had six children.    She always lovingly cared for her family.  She enjoyed genealogy work, crocheting, embroidery, painting and sewing.    She was creative and made many beautiful items for her family and others.   She loved her calling in the ward library.

            She is survived by her children, LeAnn (Dennis) Tireman of Bountiful, UT, Clint Waters of Kanab, UT, Roger (Margi) Waters of Kanab, UT, daughter in-law Lorna (Dennis) of Fredonia, AZ, and Tami (Kenneth) Johnson of Fredonia, AZ., 14 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren and 11 great-great grandchildren.

            She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, both of her parents, her sons Dennis (Lorna) Waters and Chris Waters. 2 grandsons, a great granddaughter and great grandson. 

            A viewing will be held on Thursday, October 8th from 6-7 PM and again on Friday, October 9th from 10-10:45 AM at Mosdell mortuary 676 S. Hwy 89A, Kanab, UT.    There will be a graveside service at 11 AM at the Kanab Cemetery.
