Benjamin Clayton Ball, 47, of Craig, CO passed away on October 27, 2023 due to a tragic airplane accident.
Ben was born on February 2, 1976 in Bremerton, Washington to Pauline Elaine Walker and Berry William Ball. He grew up mostly in Washington and his family settled in Davenport, WA near Porcupine Bay. Ben loved living by the water, and he and his siblings spent a lot of time swimming and boating. After graduating High School in Silverdale, WA he attended college in Moses Lake, WA earning a dual degree in A&P Mechanics and Airplane Maintenance.
Ben joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints right after high school and was an active member for the rest of his life. At the age of 26 he decided to serve a mission and was assigned to the Colorado Denver South Mission. He served in many areas of Colorado, one of which was Craig. It was there he met his wife Jennifer and after his mission they started dating and were later married in the Mt. Timpanogos Temple in January of 2005. After a few years of living in both Washington and Utah they eventually settled in Craig where Ben lived until his death. After many years of trying for a family, Ben and Jen were thrilled to welcome their son Kayden into their family in 2015. Kayden was the light of Ben’s life and they loved having fun together. Ben was a wonderful father and was always up for an adventure with his best buddy. They enjoyed swimming, camping, hiking, boating, wrestling, building forts, sledding, and anything else they could do together. Ben was an adventurer at heart and his hobbies reflected that. He was an avid snowmobiler, loved riding his dirt bike, hunting, boating and knee-boarding.
From a young age Ben loved taking things apart, putting them back together, and figuring out how it worked. This served him throughout his life as there was nothing Ben couldn’t fix and he used those skills to serve others. His life may be best remembered by the countless people he helped in both big and small ways. He also loved serving in church and held many callings over the years. He was loved by his community and he loved them.
One of Ben’s truest passions has always been flying. He got his pilot’s license at a young age and was thrilled as opportunities to fly increased the last few years of his life. He had accrued many hours of flying time and was looking forward to pursuing it more professionally. He had recently been appointed to the Moffat County Airport Advisory Board.
He was preceded in death by his mother Pauline and his sister Kate Jerow. He is survived by his son Kayden, wife Jennifer, father Berry, brothers Bill Ball and Richard Jerow, and sister Cecelia Jerow.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 11, 2023 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Craig.
