Antone Giovanini

     Antone Batista Giovanini Jr., age 84, died Thursday, July 16, 2020 at the Dixie Regional Medical  Center in St George, Utah.  He was born November 4, 1935 in San Diego, California to Nedra Duke and Antone Batista Giovanini.  He served a total of 6 years in the Armed Forces, the US Navy for 2 years, and then the US Air Force during the Korean War.  He married Anita SaldaƱa Gonzales on January 9, 1959 in the Mesa Arizona Temple.

Antone graduated from the University of Oregon and the University of Columbia. He was a former School Teacher, and retired as a Social Worker (counselor) with Sacramento County. He enjoyed hobbies such as painting and watch and clock repair. Antone volunteered as a Boy Scout Master (Sacramento), and as a Special Olympics organizer (Kanab).  Antone was widely known in Southern Utah as the “Watch Man”, as he repaired Watches and Clocks locally, as well as for charity for a thrift store in Kanab and St. George Utah. Antone was revered as a kind, loving, and honest man of integrity, and will be missed by those who knew and loved his sweet nature. 

     Survivors include his wife Anita Giovanini of Fredonia; children William (Sara) Giovanini of Fredonia, Fred (Cindy) Giovanini of Idaho Falls, Idaho, Annie (Christopher) Owens of Levan, Utah, Tony R. Giovanini of Kanab, Utah, and David (Carmen) Giovanini of Flagstaff, Arizona; siblings Baxter and Patsy, both of Washington State; 15 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, and two sons Samuel and John.

Graveside services will be held Friday, July 24, 2020 at 9:00 AM (AZ Time) in the Fredonia Arizona City Cemetery.  Arrangements were made with Mosdell Mortuary of Kanab.
