Robert Crosby

William Robert “Bob” Crosby, 83, peacefully returned to his heavenly home on January 26, 2018. Bob was born to the late Thearon and Marie Crosby in Alton, Utah on October 26, 1934. He graduated from Valley High School and later served a mission in Holland. He loved the Dutch people and language.

Bob settled in Alton, Utah after several years of working throughout the western United States. Here he was blessed with a large, loving family. He married Karen Cox, his wife of nearly 50 years, in Glendale, Utah which was later solemnized in the St. George temple. Bob helped raise his six children with patience, discipline, and humility. He taught them to serve and the value of hard work. Bob took his family on yearly camping trips where they learned the strength of family and the joy of the outdoors. He welcomed a myriad of nieces and nephews into his home and all have fond memories of the summers spent in Alton. This tradition passed to his grandchildren who spent hours hiking, fishing, camping, hunting, and looking for rocks with Grandpa. All hold special memories of their time spent with him.

Bob worked in the timber industry for 38 years and gave his heart to Kaibab industries. After retiring, he worked another 10 years at the small rest stop between Alton and Glendale. Here he made friends from all over the country whether they were regulars or just driving through. Bob loved to visit and will be missed by many. We celebrate the fact that he is at peace with his Heavenly Father and reunited with family there.

Bob is survived by his six children, Eva (Dirk) Durfey, Gwen (Mike) Duffy, Wendy (Bert) Harris, Billy (Terri) Crosby, Charlie Crosby, and Kenneth (Amanda) Crosby; sisters, Karen Crosby, Eva Evans, and Marva Crosby; 20 grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife, Karen; his parents, Thearon and Marie Crosby; siblings, Valene McMullin, Larson Crosby, Leslie Crosby, and Della Bradford; and his grandsons, Clayte Robert Durfey, Cort Michael Durfey, and Brody Todd Crosby.

Bob will be buried at the Alton Cemetery following funeral services (12:00) at the Alton Ward LDS chapel on February 3, 2018. Viewings for friends and family will be held at Mosdell Mortuary on Friday, February 2, between 6:00 and 7:00 pm and again Saturday, February 3, at 11:00 am preceding funeral services.  Arrangements were made with Mosdell Mortuary.
