Que Johnson

The legend Arthur Que Johnson left his earthly home with his beautiful wife by his side.

Que as he was known to all was born December 27, 1951 to Calvin and Anna Johnson. He was a big presence since the day he was born, as one of the largest babies at Kane County Hospital weighing in at 12 pounds.

Que attended school in Kanab and graduated Kanab High School in 1970. In his school years he was in many movies as a cowboy or an Indian or any position needed. He was an actor in Wagon Train, Fort Pierce Story at the age of 12 with Ronald Regan. He had a lifelong fascination with the movies and had stories to tell about many of the movie stars that he worked with. His favorite was James Garner because of his kindness and lack of ego toward those he worked with. Que emulated these traits in his own life as he set his ego aside and was no respecter of persons, he loved everyone.

He served as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Southwest Indian mission from 1971-1973. And he loved Arizona and the Native Americans he worked with.

After his mission he attended 2 years at State College of Southern Utah, then in the fall of 1976 he decided to go to the Utah Technical College at Provo in heating and air conditioning. It was here that he met Karla at an institute class, and it was love at first sight. They were married in September of 1977. Que finished up his associates degree. He went on to work for Gunther’s heating and cooling in American Fork and they bought their first house in Orem, and started working on their family as first Russell and then Scott was born.

Then is 1981 they packed up and moved to Kanab to help run the family cattle ranch. They loved the ranch, and the farm, and Karla worked with him until their third son Marc was born. Que worked as a cattle rancher for over 30 years. During that time, he taught his sons and many nephews, nieces, and neighbor kids about cows, horses and how to live off the land. He also taught them welding, electrical, construction and any other skill needed to run the ranch.

Que loved a good project and could fix just about anything. His skills seemed limitless as he repaired or built so many pieces of farm equipment for the ranch and any other rancher that needed help. In his retirement he loved breakfast with his friends and walking hand in hand with his best friend Karla

Que loved his family and was a stranger to no one.

Que is survived by his wife Karla, and sons Russ (Jenni), Scott, Marc (Andrea), grandchildren: Tessa, Alexis, Noelia, Lilly, Benjamin, Abraham, Pierce and a baby due in February. Brother Jeff Johnson and sister Julie Brinkerhoff and sister Carolyn Sawyer. He is preceded in death by his parents Calvin and Anna, brothers Richard and Eric. Niece Cindy and Nephew Darvin.

We Love you Que Johnson.
