Lew Day

Lew Day, age 72, passed away March 6, 2019 in Richfield, Utah. Lew was born February 26, 1947 in Richfield, Utah to Ward Day and Katherine Foster.

Lew grew up in Circleville, UT. He grew up hunting and fishing. He loved the mountains. He spent his younger years doing ranch work for the Wiltshire Outfit and herding sheep with his grandfather. Lew joined the Navy in 1964 during the Vietnam War and was discharged in 1965 under honorable conditions. Upon discharge from the Navy he became a commercial truck driver. He drove interstate through all 48 contiguous state, 5 Canadian provinces, and Alaska.

Lew was a member of Post 69 American Legion. He served as honor guard, color guard, and firing squad for many years. Lew loved his country and was honored that he served to defend it.

On June 11, 1988 Lew married Arva Lee Veater. They had many happy years together. At age 62, Lew took early retirement in order to care for his beautiful wife, Arva Lee, who suffered health problems. She was Lew’s love and life until she passed away on June 8, 2015. Lew buried his beloved Arva Lee on June 11, 2015 – it would have been their 27th wedding anniversary.

Lew will be missed by all who knew him.

A graveside service will be held at on Saturday, March 23, 2019 at 11:00 am.  Lew will be buried next to his beloved Arva Lee in the Kanab Cemetery.     Please call Mosdell Mortuary at 435-644-2214 for more information.
