Deloy Evans

Deloy Vic Evans was born December 23, 1945 in Panguitch, Utah. Deloy was the youngest child of Ephriam Lynn “Charley” and Noreen Clark Evans. He had 4 siblings; Clark Lynn, Shirlene, Gwen and Ireta. He grew up in Hatch, Utah, where he developed his love for the outdoors. He was raised by loving parents with strong family values, which he later instilled in his own family.

Deloy graduated from Panguitch High in 1964, after which he served two years in the Central Atlantic States Mission for the LDS Church.
When he returned home, he briefly attended BYU before being drafted into the Vietnam War. He was a combat veteran for two years in the 101st Airborne Division and was wounded in battle. After his recovery, he was reassigned as a helicopter door gunner and later did recon and security. Among the metals he earned were two Bronze Stars including one with Valor.

Ten days after returning home from Vietnam, Deloy met Jolene Farnsworth on a blind date and it was love at first sight. He proposed two years later at the “Top Spot Drive-Thru” in Cedar City. They were married and sealed for time and all-eternity in the Manti Temple on April 22, 1972. Four, incredibly wonderful, smart and good look’n ever-so humble and obedient children joined their union – Thomas Deloy, Andrea Lareen, Allen James, and Mark Wayne. He loved his family fiercely!

Deloy proudly served as a Fireman and EMT for the City of Las Vegas Fire Department for 29 years. His cooking, especially his famous biscuits and gravy, was surely missed when he retired on June 23rd, 2000.

Hatch was his haven and became a regular gathering place for his family. In the summertime, he and his wife, Jolene, divided their time and gardening expertise between there and Hurricane. He died on Mother’s Day morning in his home in Hurricane, Utah on May 14th, 2023.

Deloy is survived by his Wife; Jolene Evans, Children; Thomas Deloy (Leathra) Evans, Andrea Lareen (Arthur) LeBaron, Allen James Evans, and Mark Wayne (Samantha) Evans, Sister: Ireta Tubbs, and 15 grandchildren with 1 more on the way! He was preceded in death by his parents Noreen and Charley Evans, brother; Clark Evans and sisters; Shirlene Jensen and Gwen Crofts.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 20, 2023 at 11:00 AM in the Hurricane 14th Ward Chapel, 155 East 1050 North, Hurricane, Utah. Viewings will be on Friday, May 19th from 7 to 8 PM at the Chapel and on Saturday morning from 9:30-10:45 prior to the service.
