Glennis Millett Boardman, 87, passed away naturally in St George, Utah, on her favorite holiday, Thanksgiving Day, November 24, 2022, with attentive family at her side.
Glennis was born in Kanab, Utah on January 8, 1935, to Ozro Lamar Millett and Inez Adams Millett. She was one of four daughters who lost their mother at an early age in the same house in Kanab where she would later raise her seven children with her devoted husband Robert Norman Boardman. Growing up under the care of her grandmother, Ida Minnie Swapp Adams, Glennis learned to cook, sew, quilt, raise a garden, milk a cow, and most importantly, to be a faithful believer and witness of Jesus Christ. She played the trumpet in the high school band, participated on the women’s basketball team, was elected Student Body Vice President her senior year of high school, and earned an academic scholarship to Brigham Young University. She expected nothing less of each of her seven children.
Glennis began courting Robert Norman Boardman when he was on leave from the Korean War. Following his service in the war, they married in the St. George Temple June 17, 1954. Norm and Glennis lived briefly in Salt Lake City and Las Vegas before they settled in Kanab.
Glennis was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was blessed by the fellowship of many faithful friends and members of the Church. She in turn served in various teaching and leadership positions in Scouting, 4-H, and the Church. She received the Boy Scout Silver Beaver Award. She raised a large garden every summer, teaching her children the value of hard work and self-reliance. Anyone who came by the house could get warm by the fire she kept burning and converse about family and her unwavering testimony of the Savior.
The number of her direct descendants will soon exceed her age, with 7 children – David (Angela) Boardman of South Jordan, Utah, SusAnn (Marc) McLemore of Cedar City, Utah, Richard (Susan) Boardman of Idaho Falls, Idaho, Sabrina (Darin) Daniel of Plain City, Utah, Steven (Brenda) Boardman of Oak City, Utah, Brenda Lee (Charles) Percival of Roosevelt, Utah, and Alan (Erika) Boardman of Social Circle, Georgia; 34 grandchildren and soon to be 47 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her eternal companion Norman, parents, sisters- Louise, Ida, and Norda- and grandsons Colby Johnson and Taylor Boardman.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, December 3, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at the Kanab LDS Stake Center on 20 W. Center St. under the direction of Kanab 4th Ward Bishop Clay Stewart. Viewings will be held at the Stake Center Friday evening, from 6 – 7 p.m. and Saturday, one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in the Kanab Cemetery under the care of Mosdell Mortuary.

What a wonderful lady. I know Norm is waiting with open arms for his beautiful companion.
She also was a wonderful aunt! She made beautiful quilts for each one of my children! She supported our family throughout their groing up years! She taught me how to bottle and sew! I never have known anyone who worked as hard as her! She adored her children and was so proud of them!
So sorry to hear of Glennis” passing. I enjoyed knowing her from the time I worked at the hospital in Kanab.
I loved Glennis too! She was our adopted Grandma when we moved into the 4th ward in Kanab. We looked forward to our visits and we loved delivering cookies and carols at Christmas. The last time I saw Glennis she was visiting one of her dear friends and one of my hospice patients. Glennis is a wonderful example of a follower & disciple of Christ. My life is better for knowing Glennis Boardman. She will be missed here and I’m grateful to know one more angels in Heaven.
From the day we met Glennis we were treated as if we were lifelong friends. We met through our friendship with her son Richard and his wife Susan. She regaled us with stories about her heritage and her late husband and even told us that he had made the wood burning stove we were sitting next to . When we invited her out to dinner, she turned the offer around and before we knew it she was feeding us her garden vegetables and home cooked meals. Our hearts go out the family that will surely miss her immensely.
Kort and I loved Glennis…..every Sunday would find her sitting in her usual seat in church. Many a fast sunday she would share her beautiful testimony . We were blessed to give her a hug and tell her how much we loved her as we finished sacrament.meeting. Oh the heavens have welcomed one of their best servants.
