Darwin Gilger

Wallace Darwin Gilger went home to his Father in Heaven and the loving arms of family who had gone before on October 8, 2018. Married to Hilda Limb on May 12, 1948, they were later sealed in the St. George Temple.

His loving wife of 70 years, Hilda, brothers Basil and Garth, and his children Terrie, Michael, Debbie, and Katharine, and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren survive him.

He and his wife started their lives together with 25 cents, and turned that into what was needed to become a successful teacher and businessman. Those who knew him considered him a dedicated and loving father and friend and an honorable man who also loved his Savior. He considered his generation the last of those able to rise from poverty and help to create a great nation.

Children and babies gravitated towards his kind and loving presence. His children considered him the salt of the earth and said that “they just don’t make men like that anymore.” Darwin loved to sing and whistle and he kept a song ready for all occasions.

He will be missed by all who knew him.
